"Gotta be a sad day for the Democrats when being associated with Ketchup is better than being associated with their presidential candidate."

And the name of a former husband, to boot! Who does she love more? It's obvious. Kerry is such a wimp! Who in their right, manly self would put up with that garbage? He is truly girly.

In modern Spain and Portugal, women keep their maiden names after marriage and the children have a "first surname" and "second surname". In Spain, the paternal surname comes first and, in Portugal, the paternal surname comes last.

Personally, I like that system as it does not obliterate a man's surname from his daughter and his daughter's children. Given the choice between my wife bearing my surname or my daughter and her children bearing my surname, I would gladly choose the latter option.

(Without using Google, what is the surname of the maternal grandfather of the Bush twin? See my point?)

Before the 19th Century, however, things were different in Spain and Portugal. Among prominent families, the children could choose whichever surname, maternal or paternal, they preferred. When the maternal surname was much more illustrious than the paternal surname, the less illustrious paternal surname was dropped in favor of the more illustrious maternal surname.

So, it seems that Teresa is following a variation of the old Portuguese custom. She has made it clear that she considers "Heinz" much more illustrious than "Kerry".

(To all the genuine "Kerrys" out there, it should be noted that John F. Kerry is not a real "Kerry". His actual surname by the male line is "Kohn". If the Kerry family has no respect for their actual surname, why should Teresa have any respect for their pseudo-surname.)
