They happen more often than you think. (Remember that CNN had the Columbia travelling at 17 time the speed of LIGHT when it broke up over Texas). I worked in broadcasting for 15 years and saw them quite frequently, and still do, especially on local newscasts. I made a few of the mistakes myself, and can tell you, no one who is working on the production end of it wants to make an on air screw up. Someone at CNN will lose their job over this, of that I have no doubt. I think CNN is very biased toward the liberal socialist end, but I don't see some great conspiracy going on here.
