It looks like someone just did a freehand scribble over the letters. Looking at the "N" and in front of the "to", no english letters would look like that.

The way you have brought out certain features seems to show the "CNN" logo in the bottom right hand corner. It is that which surrounds the "o black". The place where everyone is seeing a "human face" is right in the middle of the "C" of the "CNN"

I think that's Cheney's flag lapel pin at the bottom right of the "X"

The right side (Cheney's left) of the cross has a pattern of boxes and Cheney's left front jacket (our right) seems to have letters or symbols in it, too. I saw the face immediately.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..........?!
