Preachers say it's because their kids hang out with the deacon's kids:')

I would be suprised if these kids were on Ritalin -- and I'm sick of the public schools putting every Tom, Dick and Harry on drugs rather than deal with things like diet, environment, etc... I'm not a fan of all this over medicating.

I'm sitting here trying to decide between Net Nanny and Cybersitter. No way my kids are going to be fooling around chatting with anyone on websites. We have a phone here in the kitchen that they can continue to use, and a computer in the den that they can use. No private computers, t.v.s or phones in their rooms. They want that, they'll have to wait until they move out of our house.

I don't believe in giving them absolutely no privacy. But they can communicate with others in semi-privacy, knowing one of our family members could walk into the room at any time. It certainly won't hurt 'em -- I grew up in a household like that (the norm for the time).

Rather than use something that "Blocks" sites like netnanny, I would recommend using a "scripting" or "logging" program. We use linux at the house, so it is a geek thing (I had to write the script myself), but there are lots of windoze thingies out there that record keystrokes. I let my girls know that they could surf anonymously, but if there was any evidence of talking inappropriately or hanging out in rooms where that went on, then we would have to re-think the privileges. I pulled out a session in a chat room, printed it off, and told them both when it occurred (just to show them how it worked). We had no real problems with the internet, just knowing that it is not "private."

Oh yeah, another thing is to log websites, and tell your kids they may never clear the history (most of em don't know how, anyway). You can see all the sites they have been to in the last X days, as it is already logged in both IE and Firefox. If YOU don't know how, you should google on the subject and educate yourself.

I have some friends who have struggled with internet porn, and we have a group in church that simply mail each other the log files once a month. We have a little widget that 1) tracks the installs of all new programs (a guy who thinks "just this time" can install another browswer and then delete it to "remove the evidence" 2)sends out a list of the files in IE or Firefox or Opera. It is good for accountability.

I know about teens and chat rooms, but in my opinion, adult men and porn is a far worse problem. All that assumes men are professing Christians. I doubt non-professors would see much problem with it.

News article says Kara didn't ask her boyfriend to kill her parents. I guess this means she wasn't in on the plan.

That's her defense attorney speaking.

Wait 'til they go over her computer with a fine tooth comb.

Actually, it's what Ludwig told the detectives. Nonetheless, I agree, other evidence will have to agree with what he says.

The holidays have arrived, and the Borden kids are grieving instead of celebrating. Their lives as they knew them are over. They have no parents and their sister turned her back on the family to side with a murderer. To top it off, they'll have to live with relatives and maybe move somewhere else, leaving their friends and their homeschooled lifestyle behind.

Their friends, too, must be reeling with shock and emotional anguish over what has transpired.

David Ludwig devastated so many people with his decision to kill the Bordens. Even though in the news articles he appears to have been straightforward with the detectives about what he did, we haven't heard anything about why he thought it was necessary to kill them.

An evil psychopath has been walking in their midst for some time. It is astonishing how much damage evil can do to so many in so short a period of time. It is even more astounding how evil can masquerade as light -- as evidenced by the high opinions of those closest to Ludwig prior to the murders.

I'm sure a lot of people can think about Ludwig's words and actions in the months prior to the murders and in hindsight, see where this could lead. That's the point -- it's all in hindsight.

This is a story of severe shock, trauma, grief, and betrayal that will take a long time for the Bordens, Ludwigs, and their friends and families to come to terms with. To top it off, they will be reminded of this devastating time at the beginning of every holiday season in the years to come.

I keep the people who have been affected by Ludwig's heinous actions in my prayers, and I feel sorrow for them and anger on their behalf for what Ludwig has done to them. I hope in time they will be able to come to terms with this, somehow, and that it doesn't ruin the rest of their lives.

Don't even TELL your kids about History. And if it IS deleted, you can go to temp. internet files. I've been known to check!

Schools don't put kids on prescription drugs. Doctors and parents do.

Some schools are sending kids home and telling parents unless they medicate the kids they can't come back to school.

Last week in Phoenix a 3rd grader who was distraught over the death of her grandfather (and probably should not have been in school) had the school nurse medicate her a prescription antidepressant without her mother or doctor's permission.... last I heard the principal and nurse were on administrative leave and this was a big deal on our local news channels for several days.

The parents of kids in the same room as this child went to the school and demanded the district take strong measures to keep this from ever happening again and demanding the teacher, principal and nurse be dealt with; so far nothing about a lawsuit, but I imagine that could be in the works.
