There's already a $25 million bounty for bin Laden, so I doubt that Willis' $1 million will make the difference.

Hmmm. $25 (twenty-five dollars) versus $26... Not much difference.

$25,000,000 vs $26,000,000 is a pretty significant difference. A million dollars is still a lot of money. An extra million on top of 25 is a big difference for someone in that line of work (international bounty hunter). It means they could afford some aircraft, extra weapons, bribes etc.

But, I hear what you're saying. 25 million is chicken scratch when you think about the damage these nuts are going to cause in the future once they get their hands on some nukes or bio-weapons.

The US should go ahead and make it a cool billion for Osama. $250 million per head for the next four. $100 million per head for the next ten in line. $25 million for the next forty most wanted terrorists and $10 million for the next hundred after that. That's five billion altogether. And somebody else does the dirty work. We could eliminate a lot of bad guys like that.

Ordinarily, I find Mr. Willis a bit annoying, but... It's good to see someone in hollyweird with the right attitude.

I kinda wish he'd put that money to better use, though, and come out with a movie either based on actual video taken by embeds, or maybe a movie dramatization of Michael Yon's adventures with the Deuce Four. It would be refreshing to see an Iraq war movie that's not propaganda from the VC crowd.

Offer a herd of 400 goats, 30 camels, 50 cows, 600 sheep, and 20 horses...

...and how many virgins? I can't recall the magic number...

As far as we're aware, this is the first instance of a Hollywood celebrity offering a bounty on anything other than Mike Ovitz's head

Wrong. Bruce offered (and paid) a bounty for the capture of Saddam.

MORE FROM LEFT COAST

Big-time Dems Hit Hollywood Up for $$$

The LA Times got the scoop this week on big-time Dems hitting Hollywood up for big-time cash. The Times article doesn't reveal much that you wouldn't expect, but here are some interesting tidbits:

"[Hillary] Clinton ... mingled with Ted Danson and wife Mary Steenburgen at the Women's Foundation of California gala benefit in Beverly Hills. Afterward, she headed to Rob Reiner's Brentwood home, where she stood before a sold-out audience of 150 people, each paying at least $500 to hear the New York Democrat speak in the director's comfortable screening room.

"The next day, she was at a private brunch, with about 75 people, at 'American Beauty' producer Bruce Cohen's ultra-modern Lloyd Wright house off Hollywood Boulevard. From there, she headed to Hancock Park for a 1 p.m. lunch, an event co-sponsored by Barbra Streisand, Rhea Perlman and Danny DeVito.

"A few days [later] Clinton headed back to Washington - with more than $300,000 collected at three fundraisers, on top of the $1 million she raised at a series of fundraisers in May ..."

So Hillary is clearly the Democrat money-leader in Hollywood, so far. But even John Kerry and ... Al Gore have been showing up in town! Thus we read:

"[T]here was another gathering of Hollywood bigwigs ... Some of the same people who had held fundraisers for Clinton had now turned out for the annual Environmental Media Awards, where former Vice President Gore was the guest of honor.

"Midway through the festive evening, Lyn Lear and Cindy Horn, the wife of Alan Horn, president of Warner Bros. Entertainment, took the stage. They looked directly at Gore, who was sitting in the front row with his family, and urged him to consider another run for president in 2008. Next, Reiner and his teenage son, one of the young award recipients of the evening, stood before the crowd, also voicing support for the former vice president.

Wouldn't it be great if Gore ran again - especially for Republicans? Where do we send our check? The LA Times continues:

"Gore has been spending a lot of time in Los Angeles working on a documentary on global warming with 'Good Will Hunting' producer Lawrence Bender, who says the former vice president seems more relaxed these days. 'I'm hoping he runs,' said Bender, who raised $600,000 for Kerry during the last campaign. 'I think the only way he'll do it is if enough people tell him to do it.'

"But Bender also met recently with Kerry.

"'He's been touching base with a lot of people, telling them thank you,' said Bender, who also hosted a small dinner party with Democratic National Committee Chairman Dean last month, raising $60,000. Kerry running mate John Edwards 'did the same thing a few months ago, and we had a party for about 20 people at the house.'"

Well, as disappointing as it is for us not to be invited to these big Democrat confabs, it's at least comforting to know that the Party of the Little Guy hasn't strayed from its humble, labor-populist roots!

$1 million or $25 million has no real meaning to them

LOL The Iraqis know what $$ can buy. They aren't a bunch of idiots you know. The (now super rich) guy who fingered Uday and Qusay's hideout got his reward.

Oh really?

You got an extra $1,000,000.00 you want to add to that, to match Bruce?

I didn't think so.

The problem with these rewards is living long enough to enjoy them. If someone were to collect the reward for AZM and OBL he would have terrorist around the world if not their families and tribes coming after them. Plus, probabaly easier than getting on a plane with an ATM card than 400 goats and all them smelly camels.

The sentiments are nice, but misguided. If one (including the US government) is going to offer large rewards, those offers would be more effective if presented in the vernacular of the area populace.

Offer a herd of 400 goats, 30 camels, 50 cows, 600 sheep, and 20 horses. That would get more likely responses, as the local populace can relate to it. $1 million or $25 million has no real meaning to them.

Bingo! The word "million" in monetary terms, does not bear any relevance to savages.

The sand rats doesn't even know what a dollar is, the worth of its purchasing power. And, they can only count to ten. Your logic makes about as much sense as trolling for alligators in the Dead Sea.
