BEIJING, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- There will be no more partying at the Great Wall of China, officials decided after a rave party this summer drew criticism for tarnishing a national symbol.
Cheng Dalin, deputy director of the China Great Wall Society, said that the local government had taken back management of the Jinling section of the Great Wall, Beijing Today reported Monday.
The government leased management rights to a company called Guangda in 1997 for a 50-year period, for the sum of $740,000, China Daily said. The company had organized outdoor barbecues, dances and parties that attracted ever larger crowds to the ancient site.
The all-night party on July 30, which drew 1,500 foreign and local revelers, was described as an "orgy" and an "improper carnival" by local media, and photographs of people urinating and vomiting on the wall infuriated many Chinese people.
Ping-a-ling to "Great Wall" party ban
Aw, geez. where is their sense of fun?>:
The "Wild Dancing Party" recently landed on China's flag construction -- the Great Wall. However, while party animals from both home and abroad celebrated with glee, the senior wall was wailing.
Partygoers crowd the Jinlingshan section of the Great Wall for night through dancing party on July, 30. The orgy has stirred strong criticism among the public. [sina]
Following an overnight spree gala at the Beijing-Hebei border section of the Jinlingshan Great Wall on July 30, the oriental epitome of ancient Chinese civilization was left in a chaotic mess.
Empty alcohol bottles and various rubbishes were scattered about, silently protesting against the past hilarity. Permeating in the air, the strong smell of excreta left by partygoers would likely make one feel sick.
Party on, dudes!
Wow, after a couple of those a Muzzie would be begging for panties on his head, and butt.
...if he has either of them left to protect!
I don't know why they're so proud of this thing. All it is is a monument to the vain useless excesses of tyrants.
Really, then why are we trying to build a Great Wall of America on the southern border? :)
