Possibly senior Al-Qaeda gave him up after the Jordan bombings.. That was a stupid blunder and someone high up in Al-Qaeda may have deep sixed al-Zarqawi to get rid of a loose canon.
Also, there have been a number of mosque attacks in the past week, after al Zawahiri explicitly instructed Zarqawi to stop targeting mosques.
