It annoyed me that after his inauguration, Bush spent so little time talking up the war. It was as if Roosevelt in 1943 had decided to push a New Deal project instead of about defeating the Axis Powers.

The rat media is dying a slow yet painful death.

Yes, but they're killing the host, too.

Your words are appreciated Peach. I am truly amazed that subjects like this (as opposed to evolution) can't be civilly discussed here on FR, especially when everyone here wants the same thing.

The MSM wants specific results. The professionals are all too happy to give it to them.

Which does not explain the Fox polls showing similar results.

Thank you, Txsleuth. And I hope you got my post to you the other day when I was ready to throw my hands up in despair and give up trying to convince people that things really are serious.

You talked me out of it and for that, I'm very, very grateful.

I guess what you are trying to say is that Bush gave people credit that they could see through the lies of the Dems and MSM??? But, they didn't....so now he has to go out and remind them, huh?

Oh...yeah, I agree about that...and didn't mean to not celebrate it...but, we have to hope the Senate got the message as well.

While your simple statement seems so non-descript "repeat a lie often and it becomes the truth," it is the essence of the Democrat party. Without this simple mantra they would soon cease to exist. Excellent take.

To: All; patriciaruth

Let me add this.

Patriciaruth has been dedicated in organizing messages of support for our troops. A few days ago she posted a thead asking for messages to send our troops for Christmas.

She got approximately 20 responses. 20!

This is outrageous. If freepers can't support the troops by demanding that their Congressmen get off the stick and support their mission and condemn the baseless lies being told about them, then what the hell are we doing here?

Who here likes to be lied about? Raise your hand. Does anyone honestly believe the troops are happy with what's going on in Washington?

And when I see polls here on FR that aren't terribly supportive of the president, and I see calls to send Christmas messages to our troops that isn't a highly bumped thread, then I know there's a problem. Quite aside from what my own family is telling me.

Well, for all the naysayers who think that support for the war and our soldiers is just fine and dandy, I say why don't YOU show a little support for the troops and demand that Congress address the lies about our soldiers? Why?

We can all be part of an echo chamber around here and act like cheerleaders,

Which is smarter then sitting around acting as an echo chamber for every spin lie and talking point spewed forth by the Dinosaur Media. It is amazing that Conservatives win any battles seeing how completely inept they are in dealing with the Democrat spin machine. Stunning how so many Conservatives never think to challenge the underlying assumptions the Democrats based the arguments on. Instead they try to simply accept the Demos assumptions and then try to out argue them on the Demos chosen ground. That is a recipe for losing PR.

Unfortunately for a certain segment of lachrymose Freeperdom (know as the Doom and Gloom Chorus) wailing, gnashing of teeth and rendering their garments seems to be preferred to actually winning political battles. I am always amused that this same Whine all the Time Choir always cite Ronald Reagan and Rush Limbaugh as their heros. There are two guys who would NEVER waste their time shooting at their own side

If you go into any battle half convinced you are defeated, you will be.

I posted my experience with pollsters.

And it was very enlightening, though not necessarily surprising. Thanks for posting it.

I think Iraq is simply the largest of our tasks in the war on terror. If you listen to GW's speeches he tells us we are fighting a world wide war on terrorism and currently we are in many countries, as many as 20 I believe. Iraq simply gets the most attention since we have so many forces there but it's not the only place they hide.

Start believing? Too late, they already do. A Democrat activist here is convinced. They are not looking for reasons anymore, they are trying to convince people now based on what they think they already know and the assumptions they have alread made. This is one of the reasons they are working so hard to retake the House and Senate. They have convinced themselves impeachment will happen when and if they can regain power.

Are you going to ignore Ollie North? Ignore those of us with kids right now IN the military?

Why don't you post those questions to somebody who is deserving of them. They don't logically follow from anything that I've posted.

Ollie says that military people are spooked by what they see in the MSM. Is that supposed to be big news?

I haven't ignored that.

"how are freepers helping to turn this problem around?"

1) freeping with terrific support the troops posters
2) calling in to tv and radio shows with facts and opinions
3) educating and informing others of what is at stake
4) contributing to packages & letters for the troops

I know you are worried and frustrated that support for the war is in a slump and especially that the troops see and hear and fear that means that they are not supported. I think it does tremendous good for them to hear GWB tell them that we won't cut and run on his watch. I hope they heard Cheney's words that he & GWB can't do anything about politicians who "lose their backbone" and I trust the American people too. It was just a year ago that we re-elected this administration! It seems like much longer.....probably because our good news about the war is snatched from us so quickly and replaced by negative stories.

I saw a book review on c-spann with a marine captain author....his book is about his time in Iraq, it's called "One Bullet Away". He had some thought provoking ideas....I'm ordering it. As these guys & gals come back and write and speak out, we will learn more....especially since most of the media are too afraid to report from the dangerous areas over there.

Yeah it's hard to make a case that Woodward forgot, or didn't know what he was doing so they just get mad and frustrated.
