I think that Fox News could wallpaper their newsroom with the e-mails I have sent...LOL

But, they aren't all negative...I e-mail when I approve of things...like the special that Dan Senor was part of regarding Iraq a month or so ago...and almost anything that Steve Harrigan or Ollie North do...

However, lately, the negatives FAR outweigh the positive ones....and, like you, I doubt they care one way or another.

Only you missed the obvious point which is at the heart of everything I have said today. The President IS countering them.

No, he hasn't. At least, until this week. He has been repeating his position statements, over and over, but he has not been specifically confronting, by name, Senators, Congressmen, or media people who have been publicly uttering outright lies about him, his actions and his policies. He has not been "countering" the lies, he has been trying to sidestep them. Sadly, you just can't seem to grasp the distinction.

Right now, neither he nor the Republicans in general are doing a good job of that. Roosevelt knew how important it was to communicate, as did Reagan.

Roosevelt had radio and movie reels. Reagan had 3 network TV channels plus PBS. Neither had internet or cable channels or a 24 hour news cycle.

I keep Fox on all day long, in hope that they will air an appearance by President Bush. I monitor C-SPAN schedules religiously to see IF they are going to air speeches or press conferences or White House meetings or Foreign Travel meetings of President Bush.

He is talking to cameras and microphones all day long virtually every day. However, he does not have his own network, cable or satellite channel. So what do you suggest he do to "communicate" better.

When Clinton was President all Americans were exposed to his voice every 30 minutes on radio news, plus at least a few minutes of coverage on each TV news show. If the media would give President Bush one-half of that coverage, the polls would be higher.

If I had a polling company, I would have each participant answer a skill-testing question (such as: who is the vice-president of the US?) before I asked for any opinions.

You must really have hated the day that Bush was in tears in the Oval office a few days after 9/11, when he was telling us that he would not stop until whoever did that was brought to justice...

if you don't like emotions entering into politics...

I agree that ones emotion cannot be THE determiner of policy, but when it comes to national security...danggit, I want a POTUS that "feels" just as passionate about caring for the American people as I feel about protecting my children and grandchildren.

They can't but that doesn't stop from the parrots constantly calling for independent commissions....

BTW, IMHO...there is no such thing as an "independent commission".

You're right about those commissions; they are anything but independent. Thankfully Hillary's call for a Katrina commission was defeated.

We are like kids sometimes that get a great present, play with it awhile....but, then decide we need a new one...

I think I was the first to burst your happiness bubble this morning, re: Friday's debate and vote. I totally apologize...I guess I was in a bad mood after watching Fat Timmy let Murtha spout lies for half an hour...without any rebuttal from a true conservative...

Anyway....you are correct sir...with Thanksgiving this week, we should ALL have been more thankful for what the House Reps. (most of them) did....it truly was remarkable.

I am even saving the VCR tape I have of it...just so I can watch JD Hayworth, Duncan Hunter, Jean Schmitt, Sam Johnson..over again.

We should take a poll from all of them to find out the "blonde lovers"!! LOL

I guess they hire blondes, thinking the enemy would think they are ditzes that couldn't possibly be covert agents..

samantha!!! You are very smart NOT to trust them with warning of a suicide bomber...

Have you ever heard of the discussion that was on C-span, I think, between Peter Jennings, Rather, Brokaw, and some other reporters...

They were discussing the subject of press "objectivity" and the question came up: If any of them were in Iraq, and were observing an enemy combatant coming up behind some US troops, would they alert the troops, OR film what is happening...and report it as it happens, no matter if that means that the enemy kills our troops...

If I remember correctly, I think Jennings admitted that he would be more likely to film and keep his mouth shut...

Peach, I pinged you because NMJ referred to you without the courtesy of a ping.

Critical thinking does NOT mean being knee jerk critical of your own side.

Tarheel was not being knee jerk critical. He was logically approaching the decision the President should take. Agree or disagree, yours is simply emotional, his was logical.

You assume that by being constantly critical of your own side you are "being an objective thinker"

First, you have no idea what I assume, nor have you bothered to review my previous threads before judging me completely. You would never be accused of critical thinking.

When you see someone who's completely off to one side, it indicates a LACK of thought or a suppression of thought to conform to an emotion based opinion.

Yes, I've seen a fair amount of that on this thread. You have demonstrated it quite well.

Funny thing is. The people who pride themselves on their Critical thinking" invariable fall on one of the extreme sides of a bell curve.

I would ask you to reference that piece of academic legerdemain, but I doubt you would respond to the request.

Look I am sorry for all of you who lived thur Vietnam

Why? I was personally very honored and proud to have done so. And I am just as proud of today's soldiers who are fighting an equally brutal enemy.

This is not Vietnam redux OK?

Not according to what I have heard from the Democrats. People need to wake up and see the similarities. In Vietnam we won on the battlefield and lost at home. Don't tell me the same can't happen now.

The Vietnam Generation need to move past that period not stay fixated on it.

Don't you dare to tell me about moving on. The knowledge of what Congress did to the military in Vietnam is very relevant to what they want to do today. The knowledge of how Americans lost faith in our efforts in Southeast Asia is very relevant to what is happening now. And if you and others fail to see what this is doing to the morale of the troops, it is your blindness, not our negativity.

" So how can they make a considered judgement that the intelligence was manipulated? "

Tony Snow has a great line- he says the Democrats manipulate ignorance.

AND, I dare say that if you see the pictures of him, and hear his speeches to the troops, that is when he lets the "REAL" Dubya come through...because he knows they don't appreciate "pretense"....they want the plain spoken man.

Was thinking on what you said and had an EEEEEK visual of a president kerry speaking to the troops. If President Bush were on tv doing his "plain speaking" every day - I would never miss a moment. Of course only FOX would carry it and then it would be a split screen with a car chase in LA going on.

I was on several threads last week right after the Senate had those votes on those two terrible amendments ---Levins and Warners...

What I got from most people on the threads was ANGER, real anger that only 13 GOP Senators had the integrity to vote against BOTH amendments...

WE want righteous anger from our Congresscritters when they are lied about, when the President Bush is lied about...

But we need to let our anger speak...and I think you saw Hayworth's anger on Thursday and Friday...and it brought out the righteous anger in the whole GOP in the House.

But...we need that anger directed at the dems, MSM...and those in our party that are appeasers....but NOT other freepers...our strength is our common agreement with Jim Robinson's political policy at FR...

Plus, we have become what, the 2nd most viewed internet forum site??? I don't know...but I don't want to get into an arguement over that...LOL
