"I used to be all in favor of the death penalty, I'm not so sure anymore. I'm pretty sure there are overzealous prosecutors around, I KNOW there are some lawyers around that you can't trust with 25 cents,I wouldn't want to trust them with my life. As long as you are in prison you could hope for new evidence that would exonerate you."

I was all for the death penalty too when I lived in California, but since I moved to Texas and saw that it is NOT a deterrent, I have my doubts. I still agree with frying murderers, but in this state is seems that it has been a problem making sure they get the right ones. Who knows how many people they wrongly executed because of the Houston lab fiasco? I got kinda sick a couple of years ago when they were frying several a month. I love this state, but I wish they would be more careful because once you execute somebody, that is it.

Do you read the Houston Chronicle? There are plenty of weekends when more than a few people are murdered in Houston alone. Besides, there were years of backlogs that had to be fried to get us up to date with the current crop of murderers.
