The problem with this vote was that the Republicans violated a long-standing protocol. When a democRat makes a statement, the Republicans are required to check the democRat for foaming at the mouth before taking him/her/it at his/her/its word. Murtha was apparently off his meds when he called for this vote and should have been ignored.

Complaining that House Republicans had engaged in a "deception" by calling for a last minute vote on the Iraq war, the San Francisco Democrat said the pro-troop resolution was "a disservice to our country." No more so than when Harry Reid called for a secret session!
