WASHINGTON The House on Friday overwhelmingly rejected calls for an immediate troop withdrawal from Iraq, a vote engineered by Republicans that was intended to fail. Democrats derided the vote as a political stunt.
"Our troops have become the enemy. We need to change direction in Iraq," said Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania, a Democratic hawk whose call a day earlier for pulling out troops sparked a nasty, personal debate over the war.
The House voted 403-3 to reject a nonbinding resolution offered by the GOP calling for the military to pull out of Iraq.
"We want to make sure that we support our troops that are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. We will not retreat," Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., said as the Republican leadership pushed the issue to a vote over the protest of Democrats.

Oh yeah. The way they went after St Hillary for not condemning the war, this is going to make their heads explode.
I dont know a lot about politics, But Chris Mathews isnt right very often. This woman pissed off a lot of her Democrat colleagues probably, but they dont vote for her anyway. Her constituents do.
Maybe Spitball and Mrs. Greenspan could take it up with the Marine Colonel. They can't handle the truth any more than the shouting, booing Rats.
Here is one.

"I totally support the suffering of our troops so Cheney can be wealthier"
i totally support our brave president and his godly mission to bring peace to the world, and i totally support the awful suffering and sacrifice of our troops as they die every day for nothing more than billioniare's desires to become trillionaires.
I wish they also would have scheduled a vote on whether to pull out of Japan, Germany and Bosnia. Useless, I know, but an informative comparison.
If I could kick out Ford Jr. here in Tennessee and vote for a woman that has the brass to call it like it, I would.
Correction, he was based in Baghdad organizing convoys to Falluja as part of his job as a Civil Affairs Officer. Honor his service, do not fall for the attempt the Dinosaur Media made to spin him as a Combat Marine. He isn't.
Sorry, I forgot the link.

>>Schmidt from Ohio<<
I think this lady needs a FReep!
Anyone have her e-mail address? Her homepage give access only to those in her district.
If I were a Dem, I would drive down to Southern Ohio and vote for her.
Here's the latest I saw over there (I have to shower again now after venturing over there). They are truly pathetic.
Republicans suffer embarrassing defeat!
The republican sponsored vote to cut and run from Iraq IMMEDIATELY was soundly defeated by the democrats yesterday. The proposal was a cowardly and treasonous idea, taking Rep. John Murtha's (D-Pennsylvania) reasoned proposal to begin redeployment of US troops over a 6 month period and issuing their own for an immediate pullout without any consideration to the safety of American troops or the fragile future of the new Iraqi republic.
Senators took the back seat last night, other than a couple who were trying to share the limelight with the representatives. It was kind of funny in that way.
Also shown, is that there ARE Repubicans who deserve to be on the talk shows more often. Tony Snow said networks want "colorful" people. Well, they got to see colorful last night.
Do these people look like the type that will fight when cornered?!!
Nonsense. Read Rassmussen's poll. Funny how the Media had to add 1/3 more Dems and Indies to the sample and reduce the number of Republican polled to get their fraudlent Bush approval numbers.
Why is it certain Freepers always have to find something negative to say no matter WHAT the threat topic is? This 100% Negativity from the Doom an Gloom brigade makes us wonder just WHOESE side they realy are on?
Yeah, Morgan, they started last night saying this was nothing like what Murtha had proposed.
J.D. Heyworth was very brief but very effective when he held up a NY Slimes frontpage headline, and WAPO front pageheadline, and an Al Jazzeera frontpage headline--all said Murtha wanted immediate withdrawal.
PLUS, six Dems who voted Present.
This 100% Negativity from the Doom an Gloom brigade makes us wonder just WHOESE side they realy are on?
That's easy to answer, any side but Bush's.
Saw that too!!! It was great. JD nailed them for another lie in their trying to redirect the argument.
I have to say, the whole event was worth watching and I'll be interested to see what the statistics are for C-SPAN last night.
Just scary.
