I just thought - this should have major implications in '06 and '08. The Dems' feet will be held to the fire by their base - this is their BIG CHANCE to bring the troops home. Anyone who doesn't do it, will probably be voted out of office.

I mean, this is it for them. If they really believe that Iraq is not worth one more American life, then this is their time to say so. I guarantee Hillary is not going to vote. Because if she votes to continue with the Iraq mission, her base will abandon her and she'll have no shot.

I really like this. Now if the Reps would cut spending, I'd really be happy with them. I might even vote for them next time.

In a way, this is a repeat of 2002. The Democrats tried to force the vote on Iraq until after the November elections so they didn't have to be on record before the people voted. Republicans forced the vote prior to the election, which is part of the cry today about being misled and intimidated. Now they just want to complain about Iraq without actually having to vote on something.
