Welfare reform was enacted in the 1990s on the premise that no one should feed from the government trough forever. But a huge welfare state still exists -- 8,000 miles away.
For 30 years, Israel has been pocketing about three billion dollars a year. It owes the U.S. a debt of about $100 billion. At Israel's request, most of the money is called a loan with repayment waived. Israel doesn't want U.S. oversight of how it spends U.S. taxpayer money, as would be required for a grant.
And in a break from longstanding U.S. practice, Israel does not have to spend all U.S. military financing in the U.S. Three years ago, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon requested and received an additional $10 billion in grants and loan guarantees. This casts doubt on whether Israel will ever repay a separate ten billion dollar loan it received a decade ago.
The U.S. has decreed that no American is entitled to a lifetime of government subsidies. Yet these non-Americans have lived off U.S. taxpayer money for three decades. It's time to end the double-standard.
And that's The Point.

I agree with you.
There really is no end in sight to our funding of Israel. And its not like their some poor 3rd world country or anything.
When you think about it, what we really pay Israel for is for them not to open up a can of whoop-ass on the Arab world, thus jeapordizing our oil supply.
I agree. Big L-o-o-o-o-n-g list before we get to pseudo-allies and then allies.
My thoughts exactly. How about we cut off aid to North Korea. Then we can think about cutting off the spigot to Israel

Of course we payed for and provided that can of whoop-ass to begin with.
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
