One more golden instance of my oft-repeated observation: polls are only valuable if weighted. And they never are.

That is, I want to know WHAT PERCENTAGE of the fifty-one percent has any idea what is going on in Iraq, has any historical perspective, is only getting what the Dems and the MSM (-- as if they're two different things) keep chanting.... I want a grasp-of-the-fundamental-facts check.

It grows out of this misconception, that opinions are self-validating.

It grows out of this misconception, that opinions are self-validating.

This has nothing to do with opinions being right or wrong or knowledge on Iraq. The point is that each of these people are also voters. The assertion implicit in any poll like this is that the results indicate how people may vote and that has nothing to do with being right or wrong. It's not like each person that's 'right' get to vote twice.

I got a call from some polling group the other day. They read me a statement and then said, "so, what do you think about this problem?" I said, "I would have to hear the other side before I could have an opinion." She hung up on me.
