LONG-range American bombers will be able to drop live bombs on an Australian training range in the Northern Territory under a key plan announced today.

Under the new arrangements United States B52, B-1 and B-2 stealth aircraft could fly from as far away as the continental United States for training operations at the Delamere air weapons range in the Northern Territory.

Defence Minister Robert Hill said such strategic bomber training had been conducted some time ago.

He said the US had now asked Australia whether it could be resumed.

The plan was announced during the Australia-United States Ministerial (AUSMIN) meeting in Adelaide.

"We have said we are happy to assist," Senator Hill said.

Senator Hill said some of the aircraft may not even touch down in Australia, while others would land at the Darwin RAAF base.

Just wait for the Al Sharpton crowd to start whining about it.

I wonder if they killed any kangaroos, there'd be a way to get the pelts shipped overseas.

I note that the headline is childishly slanted.

US to drop bombs...

Not US and Australia to conduct joint training exercises...

1. "Hey, I thought the US was supposed to be our ally"

2. That said. News Ltd, and its papers, are fairly strongly pro-US alliance, so I'm assumimg it was done to fit a headline.

I feel that the US has no stronger ally than Australia.

Given the state of most of the MSM, it made me wonder.

Thanks for the heads up. :)

It's not too late to stop the bombing. Send over all of your Fosters Lager and we will reconsider. ;-)
