Here's what I wrote:
Dear Mr. Austin,
By now you are probably aware that one of the English professors, John Daly, has gone on record for the oppression of free speech and dissent on your campus and on others and has advocated the murder of members of the US Armed Forces. To wit, professor Daly wrote the following in an email communication to Warren Community College student Rebecca Beach:
"...I will continue to expose your right-wing, anti-people politics until groups like your won't dare show their face on a college campus. Real freedom will come when soldiers in Iraq turn their guns on their superiors and fight for just causes and for people's needs ..."
I am curious what you plan to do in response to these ravings in that this hateful, abusive rant certainly creates a hostile learning environment for anyone who might hold an opinion counter to Prof. Daly's. I suggest Prof Daly be required to attend workshops on free speech and diversity of opinion, on fostering a learning environment that encourages civil debate, and in light of his poor grasp of English grammar ( he also wrote: "Your literature and signs in the entrance lobby look like fascist propaganda and is extremely offensive.") I also recommend some workshops on English grammar and syntax.
Best of luck with this,
...
There is an additional lesson here. Many school systems in this country have been teaching the whole language approach to English for 15 years. If you read this guys statement in his bio you get a great explanation of this method.Grammar and spelling do not matter.
He also needs to get a dictionary and look up the meaning of profit margin before he attempts to use the term again.
041, 042, Basic Writing? Those are classes a seventh-grader could pass, and he's teaching them at a college? He must not be too bright.
Leftist college professor ping
Thanks Lloyd
And thanks to everyone who has done the same.
Since Professor John Daly has created a hostile learning environment for Rebecca, she is demanding that Warren Community College President William Austin institute seminars on free speech and sensitivity to teach intolerant leftists, such as Daly, to be respectful of differing opinion
Er, professor, the U.N. imposed the sanctions, and administered them. The U.S. liberation of Iraq brought the sanctions to an end.
If -- instead of laughing at you -- we accept your Saddamite figure, and bearing in mind that the sanctions were in place from August of 1990 to (I think around May of) 2003, then we get 1,000,000 dead children, divided by 166 months, for 6,024 dead children per month on average.
This means that, over the last 30 months, the U.S. led liberation of Iraq, and U.S. requested lifting of U.N. sanctions, has saved the lives of about 180,720 Iraqi children. (And counting.)
bump this back to the top
This so called professor is an idiot, maybe his next job could be writing for michaelmoore.

And then there's this simpering "apology"... |
Check out this apology from the college... it looks like they may leave this guy to the sharks!

D'ouh!
Have you seen the idiot professor thread?

Hey, great minds think alike. ;-) |
I was just thinking that. He actually made several glaring errors. The fact that he is allowed to teach an English class at any grade level is alarming.
Since the professor also seems to be unaware of the scope of genocidal policies pursued by Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and other communist leaders, thinks the U.S. rather than the U.N. imposed sanctions on Iraq, and thinks the run-up to the Iraq war consumed 12 hours rather than 14 months, I'd say he could use some remedial training in history as well.
In fact maybe it would be simpler if the professor were simply required to enroll in the community college, as a freshman?
I'm thinking that someone needs to take a flamethrower to that guy!
ping
a part-time instructor, Mr. John Daly
Huh? Has Mr. Daly already been demoted from "professor"?
Oh, EXCELLENT letter, btw...
