Suspected Illegal Immigrant Raid in Schuylkill County
WNEP ^ | Thursday, November 17, 12:20 p.m. | Bob Reynolds

Posted on 11/17/2005 11:34:25 AM PST by BradtotheBone

Federal agents dropped in on a distribution center that is under construction in Schuylkill County Thursday morning to round up workers who are allegedly in this country illegally.

Agents from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration, state police and members of the Schuylkill County Sheriff's office arrived at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center that is going up in the High Ridge Business Park near Minersville, Pennsylvania.

They were looking for suspected illegal immigrants. The workers were placed on white buses brought in by the federal agents. In all, three buses were brought to the business park. Everyone taken into custody was expected to be taken to a processing area. The government will then determine what will be done with the workers from there.

The name of the construction company that hired the workers has not been released. Investigators say the company will probably be questioned by the agents as to how the undocumented workers got their jobs.

Newswatch 16's Bob Reynolds will have the latest developments of the raid beginning at 5 p.m.

That explains it... look at the map. The Unions got wind of it and raised hell.... because it impacted their precious little empire. Any where else nothing would have probably been done.

So they weren't employed by Wal Mart, but a construction company?

3 bus loads? Wow.

That's just the workers, how many buses could they load up if they also went after their 15 family members they're each supporting? But no, that'd mean women and children and old folks which will cause such an uprise. No worries, all will be fine this time next week when those poor immigrants who just want to work will be back across the border and punching their time card.

The raid was suspected?

Sure. The same as we see "suspected illegal drug dealer raid" and "suspected illegal pimp raid". We all find it so hard to keep up with the times.

Don't you know by now that one can't write a poor immigrant got picked up article without the obligatory stab to Walmart? It's Bush's fault. Walmart hired illegals.

It's amazing that all INS seems to raid only companies that have something to do with walmart. Even though the construction company is separate what you hear is "walmart".

I can't understand why do don't go and raid many of the manufacturing firms that hire these people illegally. Bet this company wasn't union . We've had constuction work at our office building for over a year, and 98% of the workers are hispanic and do not speak English, all work instructions are given to a key guy who has broken English and direct workers in spanish.

Good, now all they need to do is seize the contractors personal property as ill gotten gains and throw his butt in jail.

Not to worry, Wal-mart will be blamed for it no matter what.

I was given the impression from other reports that WalMart was hiring illegals. I guess you can't trust the media! (jeez)

Maybe these contractors will start hiring Americas at a decent rate. Or if the contractor, himself, is illegal then maybe he will be deported.

If illegals get the beat down then business owners will start paying people what the work requires.

And they say "jobs Americans don't want..."

All the ingredients of a dangerous job site. Be very careful around wetbacks, they have no idea what safety is.

I missed it when the executive vetoed the fine legislative package for securing our borders that Congress sent up. Do you have the bill, or resolution number available?
