A man invited my son & three others in the Marines to spend Thanksgiving on his yacht in the 90's. He still speaks very fondly of this memory & the man who extended his hand. I know it meant alot to me as well to know my son was not alone on this holiday.
Yeesh! Campuses have changed alot since then.
Since he was teaching there, it helped that he
actually knew the folks we had invited over too.
Good luck! I do think it's a wonderful thing
you are offering.
I'll have to look for it.
That's ok, don't sweat it...but if you don't want to dig it out, you have GOT to make some attempt at describing it. :)
I stopped by the Marine recruiting station tonight...the Army guys were too busy to talk to me after I was there for 5 minutes.
Anyway, he said i should contact the USO.
I will give the organized stuff one more shot, and will contat the USO. If I get pushed on to someone else with a "It's not my job" response, I swear i will forget the whole thing, and just do it without the organized circus.
OK. I got a call back from the USO. I found out that they do not have a program to find homes for military personnel. The reason they do not, "liability issues". But, guess what. They are happy to accept DONATIONS!
OK, next year I will start this in JULY. Maybe then I can get organized enough that we can get some over.
If anyone knows someone who is spending it alone, please PM me.
