There are just 102 days before polls open in the race for governor, but Governor Rick Perry's main challenger hasn't said much lately.
Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn has been relatively quiet since launching her campaign in June.
Strayhorn has a lot of money in her campaign war chest, but lately, many political observers have noted that her momentum seems to be dwindling, just as Governor Perry is picking up steam.

I regret to say that Dallas is no longer in Texas.

(I love Kinky but I wouldn't want him as my Governator.)
Well said, I also know him and I agree.

Huh? I've heard at least a dozen of her commercials on radio, and I don't listen to over the air radio that much.I was going to post the same comment. You cannot turn on an AM radio without hearing one of her commercials. She needs to go away.

Wow. I just learned something this morning. What, more cronyism and favoritism in the White House?

Madam Keeton McClellan Rylander Strayhorn will most likely get her campaign in gear before too much longer. She is still raising funds as indicated by this article from just a few days ago. The holidays is a time to work on the grassroots part of the campaign structure. Also filing for the Primary is between Dec. 3, 2005 and Jan. 2, 2006.
[Strayhorn, in town for a fundraiser organized by San Angeloan Len Mertz, trailed Perry in a Scripps-Howard Texas Poll released in September. Among those who said they would vote in the Republican primary, 46 percent of voters said they would vote for Perry, compared with 28 percent who supported Strayhorn. However, among all voters, those who disapproved of the way Perry was handling his job as governor outpaced those who did, 45 percent to 39 percent.]click

But what is the straight poop about the state income tax?The straight poop is that there better damn well not be one or we're heading to Austin with pitchforks, hot tar, and torches. And all the feather pillows we can find. The franchise tax is a de facto income tax anyway, so they've already put it over on us. Friggin' RINOs.

He also got in trouble for saying No Gay Marriage, No Way, No How (not a quote, but the sentiment) and No Gays In The Military, If You Don't Like It Find Another State To Live In. He caught all kinds of hell for that. Funny because there was a rumor he was gay -- probably started by the gays.
Also, "Adios, Mofo" is such a great line.

You mean just like we had to take back the capitol by storm to throw out the carpetbaggers and scalawags during "re-construction"? By the way, thanks to Dick Taylor and Tom Green, we never got burned like Georgia.

Strayhorn - if that's what her name is this week - is a former mayor of the People's Republic of Austin.
'Nuff said.

Yes, Ma Richards the second thinks it's unfair that Texans don't have a State income tax they can deduct from their federal income tax.. Her logic is off the wall.. And also incorrect! Starting with 2004 income taxes, there is now a chart, unless you have better records for the deduction of a portion of sales taxes, as if they were a state income tax.
Since reconstruction, the Texas governorship has been a relatively (to other states) weak position. Little more than ceremonial. Kinky Fierdman's campaign slogan, "how hard can it be?" is absolutely true insight. I can easily vote for Kinky as governor, but, not as Lt. Governor.

I meant that what you learned... was it that Scott McClellan is another example of cronyism and favoritism in the WH? You said you learned something today. Or did you draw no conclusion from Carole Strayhorn being his mom?

Or, more completely, Carole Keeton McClellan Rylander Strayhorn (did I leave any out) 's son. I think she is also the daughter of Paige Keeton, former dean of the UTexas law school, and author of "Keeton on Torts", which is a 'must read' for any ambulance chasing plaintiff's attorney.

I said no such thing.
Though I would like more examples of this cronyism and favoritism in the WH... your comment has piqued my curiosity I hadnt realized it was so rampant.

Sounds like Ann Richards but more annoying! As a Texan, I'm ashamed whenever I hear a supposedly educated person talking that way. Heck, over a beer in the evening or a day at the lake, or even shooting the bull at work I talk like that, but when they do it like she does they're pandering. "Whom among us, doesn't enjoy NAhSCAh?"

Funny we find three people on one thread that know him though -- a friendlier fella you won't find anywhere. Kinky probably just wants to run so he can travel around the state and meet the other ten people he hasn't met yet.

You mean just like we had to take back the capitol by storm to throw out the carpetbaggers and scalawags during "re-construction"?I thought that we did that (figuratively) just a couple of years ago, but apparently that was the demn yankees themselves, now we have to go after the carpetbaggers (RINOs).
