Defying a Palestinian Authority ban on public displays of weapons, about 1,000 people brandishing assault rifles and rocket launchers marched through Gaza City on Thursday and vowed to hold on to their arms.
Members of the Al Aksa Martyrs' Brigades, fired into the air while their leaders made speeches insisting on the right to bear arms against Israel.
"Brothers, don't ever give up your weapons," said a senior Gaza leader known by the nickname Abu Ibrahim. "We can't lay down our arms while Israel still occupies the West Bank, surrounds Gaza and controls our airspace and coastal waters, which means that the occupation remains and resistance will continue."
The arms ban officially went into effect two months ago days after an explosion at a rally for Hamas killed 25 people. Hamas blamed Israel, but Palestinian investigators said the blast was set off when militants mishandled explosives they were displaying at the rally.
Al Aksa spokesman Zakariye Assouli said the group supported the Palestinian Authority's efforts to stop internal violence while reserving the right to avenge Israeli attacks.
"We respect our brothers in the political leadership," Assouli said. "We honor their commitments, but they can't ask us to watch daily Israeli aggression and to remain silent."
The Palestinian Authority has had great difficulty trying to impose order in Gaza, where terrorists routinely flaunt their power. =http://www.imra.org.il/story.php3?id=27527>

500,000 bullets on way to Gaza
[IMRA: Since the PA plans to put the members of the various terrorist groups on the PA payroll - and this as intact units - DM Mofaz's restriction, if honored, would mean that terrorist groups only get the bullets if they agreed to also draw a salary from the PA.]
Bullets to be used by PA police, Palestinian sources tell Ynet. Israel approves delivery on condition bullets used by police only, after PA complained it lacked ammunition

A delivery of 500,000 rifle bullets is expected to reach the Gaza strip in the coming days, perhaps even as soon as Thursday, through the Rafah border crossing, Palestinian sources have told Ynet.
The bullets, which will be shipped from Egypt, are intended for use by the Palestinian police. Israel has already given its permission to the transport, on condition that the bullets are used solely by the Palestinian Authority, and not by any other armed factions.
Egyptian security personal and instructors who are currently staying in Gaza will supervise the shipment's arrival, including the storage and distribution of the bullets.
During negotiations between the Egyptians and the Palestinians on the terms of the delivery, the Egyptians have posed strict conditions for the process of the bullets' delivery and distribution, the sources added.
Mofaz gives green light
Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz has recently authorized the bullets' shipment, to comply with Palestinian requests to allow more arms to enter the Strip and strengthen the PA security system's ability to fight anarchy and enforce law and order in Gaza.
At this stage, Israel has agreed only on the transfer of bullets to be used by the Palestinian police.
Well in this case I have to agree. Don't give up your weapons.

Didn't the US write the check for this ammo ?
Allahu fubar ping!
Yes, the issue had been Israel's refusal to allow it in.
Let's not forget the huge supply of guns and weapons Israel gave Arafat's so called "soldiers" during the Oslo Accords fiasco. Arafat gave no peace or stopping of incitement to kill. The soldiers were supposed to stop the terrorism and Israel and the U.S. went along with this dream.
Those tens upon tens of thousands of rifles and other weapons did not disappear when the Oslo agreement proved a mistake. They continue to be used for terrorism, plus the continuing supply smuggled in from terrorist supporting countries.
They can lose their lives. Bury them with their weapons.. in pigskin!

Wrapped in bacon and country ham....wait a minute, what am I saying?!?!? A good Virginian like me? Never mind, that would be a waste of perfectly good bacon and country ham.
What the Palis have yet to learn is respecting the rights of others to live their lives without harrassment or fear of being murdered..
They may never "learn" this fact, but simply be put out of their ignorant misery instead..
There will come a time, however, when the truth will finally be realized..
Take up arms against your fellow man, and the consequences may be your own death..
