I'd try some Christian book websites.

I've been looking for old school textbooks on US history - before it was re-written. I'd be interested if you find anything.

I'm cheap and enjoy reading things off the web, so a good web site would be much appreciated. Otherwise, recommendations on good history books would be great, too! Why won't you use the library?

David Barton's "Original Intent" is a great history of the Constitution and its originally intended meaning.

LS' book is absolutely excellent. I highly recommend it.

The best source is the original source! If you want to learn about the pilgrims read "Of Plymouth Plantation" by William Bradford. He was there...he should know. As for Columbus, we have "The log of Christopher Columbus" , his exact words...Davy Crockett wrote his own book in 1834, we have a copy of that as well...
Homeschooling curriculum sites have an incredible amount of Historical books...exact reproductions of the originals from the 1800's...enjoy your search!

P.J. O'Rourke once wrote that he owns a 1919 edition of Encyclopedia Britannica, and called it "The only reference I really trust." ;)

Exactly what I was going to say. Joe may want to try attending his state's annual homeschool convention to see the assortment that it is available in his area. It is amazing and encouraging.
