Points system explained from NASCAR.com. Short version -
- You start off with where everybody finishes. First is 180 points, 2nd 170, 3rd-6th 5 points less per spot (165 down to 150), 7th-11th 4 points less per spot (146 down to 120), 12th-43rd 3 points less per spot (117 down to 34). It's the same in the Craftsman Truck Series, but since they only have 36 trucks in a race, the minimum points is 55 for 36th.
- Anybody who leads a lap gets 5 bonus points (so really the minimum a driver can get for winning the race is 185).
- The driver who leads the most laps gets another 5 bonus points.
