We will see. I had a Honda Insight. It got good mileage (50 MPG), but you can get that from small diesels without all the extra equipment. Resale value has proved to a problem. People are wary of battery replacement. I was lucky in that mine failed with 1500 miles left on the warranty. The new pack along with the summer gas prices enabled me to get out in pretty good shape. Most owners haven't been so fortunate.

Diesel and hybrid are not incompatible, is all I was trying to point out. The same improvement in mileage that you experienced with that Honda can be applied to an already more-efficient diesel.
