Brit was interviewing DeGenova tonight (Law Partner of the woman that wrote the law which Fitz was investigating to see if it had been violated), and he said that Fitz stated in his press conference that Libby was THE FIRST PERSON to name Plame. They played the clip of Fitz's press conference, and it was the main basis upon which Fitz had built his case.
DeGenova stated that since Woodward's testimony proves that the premise that Libby started all these "rumors" was false, that under Justice Department rules, Fitz must reevaluate any evidence used in his indictment that was a basis for other findings, and if reasonable doubt as to the indictments is brought up due to any part of his findings being proved false, he is obligated to drop ALL charges. These are Justice Department rules, and DeGenova stated that Fitz had "better do this very soon". He also stated that Fitz has shown that his investigation is little more than a witch-hunt, and he risks his entire career on this new development.

Right. Britt Hume and his pals all came to the conclusion this evening that it is someone who has left the administration.
That still gives a very wide field to choose from.

Yup, I said above that if Fitzgerald doesn't straighten this out, his career is ka-put. And he deserves it to be. When you lie down with dogs, you get up wih fleas.

Libby isn't charged with anything that could be deflected by blaming someone else in the administration - unless he cuts a deal.

I have a hunch that the Deep Throat of the new century is Valarie Plame's former boss, Fred Rustmann. Just speculation, though.

What was that that Cheney said to leaky Lehey....I imagine that is what Cheney is thinking.

I have new information. The source of the revelation to the press of Valarie Plame's covert identity was none other than Joe Wilson, her husband. This is what makes Wilson look suspect:
"Retired Army General and FOX News contributor Paul Vallely says he knew former ambassador Joseph Wilson's wife Valerie Plame was a CIA agent long before she was outed in a newspaper column in 2003 because Wilson told him so. Vallely says Wilson volunteered the information in at least three separate conversations while both men were waiting to appear on FOX News programs during the fall of 2002." -- Brit Hum

I.e., Colin Powell. What in the heck will these people do if the trail leads to Powell???

Thanks for the explanation. I was not implying that Libby did it to pass the buck -- just so darned confused at this point that I was trying to make sense of it all.

LOL
Knowing Woodward's reliance on dead informants, his " high administration source" was probably William Rehnquist.
