I might hope that Fitzgerald would actually go after the real perps--Wilson, Plame, and their friends in the left wing press--if he had not revealed, when he indicted only Libby, that he is nothing but another lying, left-wing stooge.
I don't think anyone should get his hopes up that Fitzgerald will ferret out the truth anytime soon, because his intentions appear to be quite different.
I agree. Fitzgerald is now getting the first down payment on his reward, too. He was just named as one of the "Sexiest Men Alive" in People Magazine.
Katie Couric interviewed the People Mag rep on The Today Show this morning. The segment was supposed to be about who the #1 "Sexiest Man Alive" is, but Katie made sure to work into the segment some gushy little thing about Fitzgerald being named and how she was "sure" he would be embarrassed. How could Katie know the way Fitzgerald would react unless she's socialized with him?
Bingo.
This disclosure does nothing to harm the case against Libby. That case is based on Libby's testimony, not the actual leak.
Now, Woodward may have just opened up some more perjury charges, but the case against Libby still stands. I imagine this will be introduced to defend Libby, however.
