The United States made a "big mistake" when it invaded Iraq, former President Bill Clinton said Wednesday, citing the lack of planning for what would happen after dictator Saddam Hussein was overthrown.
"Saddam is gone. It's a good thing, but I don't agree with what was done, " Clinton told students at the American University of Dubai.
"It was a big mistake. The American government made several errors ... one of which is how easy it would be to get rid of Saddam and how hard it would be to unite the country."
Clinton did however say that the United States had done some good things in Iraq: the removal of Saddam, the ratification of a new constitution, and the holding of parliamentary elections.

Clinton says Iraq invasion was a big mistake
He also seems to have forgotten that he signed the Iraqi liberation act.
This won't be the last headline using both these words: "Clinton" and "mistake."
"All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?"
Prick steps on foreign (Arab) soil and says the US invasion was a bunch of errors. I would say something bad, but I think the Carnivore people in Langley would be after me.

----I agree
If Clinton had been doing his job instead of doing his intern, maybe it would not have been necessary to invade IRaq.
Salary of the President: 72,000
Salary of a White House Intern:0.00
Cost to the country for a worthless president: Countless
And how did you propose to magic Saddam away?
So much for politics stopping at the water's edge.
Truth is no will know for years. I believe it was a chance worth taking.
Truth is the dems are undermining the war effort.
No no that was President Bill Clinton, champion of Liberals!
Dont know you know liberals get to change their opinion without consequence!
(/sarc)
Well, I guess Billy Jeff would have just charmed Saddam out of power....
Saddam did not deserve to get the benefit of the doubt, and that's the bottom line. And did anyone expect that we could just go in there, remove Saddam, and just get out?
How much money have you collected Bill Clinton off old Saddam's oil money?????? Funds dried up??? Who is paying you to talk now Bill Clinton, we have discovered you nor your wife do anything without a price???
Even in criticism, they don't have a solid message; what does anyone think they would accomplish if in power?
And if Bill had not told us that Saddam had WMD, it would not have been made.
