We are not dealing with what you had for lunch on a certain day or what the VP may have said about the Ambassador from Umpapa Mauway. The Wilson controversy was a big deal to Libby and to others in the White House. It seems by the time the Novak article came out everyone at the top levels of the government was aware of Wilson and his wife. For Libby to be discussing Wilson and his wife with Ari Fleischer a week before the Novak article appeared, then immediately after there was a controversy that arose over whether someone in the White House leaked that information to the press. How could any intelligent person who is under seige by the press and in fear of a White House investigation at the least forget that he had been talking to Fleischer and others just weeks before about how to deal with Wilson and his wife. If I had someone that scatter brained working for me, I would fire him. Also as I've said he had his telephone logs, his notes (where he attributes his knowledge to Cheney), and his emails that he or his lawyer could check. He had over a year in which to do this. Believe his sob story of poor memory if you like. It strains credibility. If he was a Democrat you would already be screeching for his execution.
How about if you cite them Counselor?
What then?
Discredit Woodward!
Are those the marching orders Centerfield?
Conjecture. It is merely possible that Woodward told Libby about Plame before Cheney did.
More importantly, Woodward's revelation furthers the notion that Plame's identity (as "Wilson's wife", at least) was well known among the press corps well before Novak revealed her name -- which, in itself, bolsters Libby's case.
An example of reckless prosecution.
Thanks to both of us for helping pay for it!
So where does Scooter Libbey go to get his reputation back?
Woodward is such a coward. Why couldn't he come forward a few months ago with this?
Impeachment is not the same as an indictment under our leagal system. If convicted, Libby faces up to 30 years in jail as a felon. Clinton faced the possible loss of his job. Big difference.
I was called to a GJ. I thought I took good notes and had a pretty good memory and I was surprised how poor memory is about events. At one point before testifying the prosecutor took my lawyer aside and told him he thought I was lying about my lack of memory. I was being as careful and diligent as I could be.
I can sympathize with Libby.
It also could be that Libby is innocent and Clinton was guilty.
I agree. When I say people say that this is boring I just figure they haven't taken the time to read the history/details. It has all the good makings of a mystery novel! LOL!
Who dunnit?
Without knowing the facts, I won't comment on the substance, just the circumstances. You seem to think that the Wilson affair was the most important, prominent, and time consuming job Libby was involved with at the time. In actual fact, Wilson was gnat on the body politic. It was only months later that this gadfly got his 15 minutes of fame aided and abetted by the DNC. I doubt if Libby spent more than an hour total on the Wilson allegations.
I am sure that Libby spoke with Ari Fleischer on almost a daily basis and went to lunch with him. To expect Libby to remember these conversations is nonsense, especially in a high-powerered job such COS to the VP during wartime.
Believe his sob story of poor memory if you like. It strains credibility. If he was a Democrat you would already be screeching for his execution.
You obviously have no understanding what a high level executive position in the government entails. Moreover, you seem to believe that people can remember every conversation they had months and years ago at work. Wilson was a minor blip on Libby's radar screen.
You bring up partisan politics, i.e., "if he was a Democrat you would already be screeching for his execution." Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes. This is all about partisan politics. Wilson was making a partisan attack against a WH policy. He was successful in having it criminalized. The same thing is happening with Tom Delay and Bill Frist.
Bump
I can too but he had more than a year to go back before the grand jury and clear up his mistakes like Rove did.
Dont you remember me, you were my Democrat Precint captain. Opps, sorry, I guess I let your secret out.
Because then Cheney and the administration would cut off his access and his book project would die.
If so, given Woodward's history, the fact that a Republican administration gave this RAT the time of day absolutely discourages me. WHY do we sleep with the enemy??
Other than the fact that Woodward is a reporter why do you call him an enemy?
Woodward was a lifelong republican at the time of Watergate and is likely at least still a RINO. He served as a naval officer in military intelligence. While in that role he briefed the general that became Nixon's final Chief of Staff for his daily intelligence briefing. He has written a series of books complimentary to Bush and Greenspan. Oh on Larry King Life a few months ago he came out and said that he thought the CIA Leak investigation was a big furor over nothing. He heavily crticised Fitzgerald for being on a witch hunt. If this is an enemy sounds like we could use more.
Why does Bush and the rest of the administration grant him huge access to themselves and their notes... because the book he's writing is goign to be a bestseller and you want to have a chance to present your best side. If you dont talk then its only your critics who do. Not a good strategy.
