On Friday, during a speech before about 50 students at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Andrews laid out his positions for a Senate run. After the speech he told reporters that this was not a formal announcement of his candidacy but that would be coming.

"I'm planning to run. I'm going to be in that race," said Andrews, 47, in remarks published by Gannett New Jersey for Saturday morning papers.

Those Jersey house seats are as safe as can be for the likes of Andrews, Pallone, Menendez, and even Holt's seat.

It would be just exchanging one rat for another rat.

Isn't the Demolition Machine pushing for Codey to be named Corzine's replacement in senate?

We've got a decent shot at Holt's seat. He shouldn't even be in it.

Redistricting substantially altered the district Holt represents, increasing 'Rat strength there.

I'm guessing its gonna be a 3 way primary between Andrews, Menendez and Cody, because I think Corzine will give into the Washington pressure to appoint Cody.

Which is good. It'll be a messy primary, and it'll open up two house seats. Sure, the D's will probably keep both of them, but they will at least need to spend a lot more money to do it.

Even so, I still think we could reclaim it. Holt is still too radically leftist for the seat.

I think we could have won it in 2004, when that part of N.J. swung very heavily behind Bush, but this is exactly the kind of district the Democrats have gotten much better at winning. All the Democrat has to do is make the race about abortion or Roy Moore or schoolchildren and they win. We used to be able to trump that with security, but that seems to be failing as an issue. Fiscal conservatism is dead in that part of the Garden State.
