The Bible supports Meditation in Joshua 1:8 before Israel overtook the giants at Canaan: This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.
Meditating on the law of God is not the same thing as emtying your mind of all thoughts so you can enter into "the cloud of unknowing" aka an altered state of consciousness.
