Well I don't live in Rhode Island but I know what the GOP is up against there. Too often I read how we shouldn't coddle RINOs and it's better to lose and send a message than to win with a RINO. I still think maintaining committee chairs is more important but I've been savagely attacked for that. It will be interesting to see what happens here.

Nor do I. I escaped from N.J. though, and know the rats quite well.

BTW ... see my #24. ;)

If a few of the RINOS were axed, what would the chances be of Alito ever making it to the court? The answer is zero. Yeah, but a least we'd show those RINOS. We'd show 'em good. Maintaining control is absolutely the prize that we cannot relinquish. If the DemocRATS were in control now, they would be changing rules to ensure that they stay in control. Does anyone doubt that?

The GOP can't maintain the committee chairs they have now. What makes you think they'll somehow have more control if Chaffee is re-elected.

I agree with you, rhombus. We need to be pragmatic about this. Someone who votes conservative 46% of the time is better than almost any Dem, by far. Plus, your point is a good one (committee chairs).
