"But, people that think that deportation of every single illegal alien in this country can be done without a huge cost, both in dollars and Constitutional rights is deluded."
People who make excuses as to why we can't enforce our most basic laws are cowards.
You don't have to violate the constitution. You just have to enforce the laws.
When you catch an illegal alien in any other interaction with the police- like any crimes or traffic stops - you DEPORT THEM, not let them go.
When the border patrol catches illegal aliens near the border, they DEPORT THEM, not give them notices to appear for a deportation hearing, and have 90% never show up.
Then you get the bush administration to actually enforce our workplace laws! I know, it's a shock, but we actually have laws against hiring illegal aliens. GWB has dropped enforcement to almost ZERO now.
Create a reward system funded by employer fines, and you'll soon find millions of illegal aliens turned in - and the cost of deporting them will be paid by it, too.
I agree that any illegal alien who is picked up by police for a crime should be deported. But this thread was about deporting ALL illegal aliens, now. Does everyone who talks to police have to prove their citizenship? What if you don't have a passport/birth certificate or Drivers License on you? Off to jail you go?
And when the border patrol is driving these illegals back across the border at a regular border crossing and goes through all the paperwork at the other end and possible refusal by the Mexicans to allow entry, what is to keep 10-20 times as many illegals from entering while the border guards are gone? They dont release them because they are led by stupid beauracrats. They release them because they dont have any where to store them and no one to return them to the country of origin assuming that country would take them back.
