Here's a clue for you:

Security is done in layers. Because each layer, by itself, can't deter everybody. So you build up different layers of security in order to create a whole system.

By your "logic" (which is just a rationalization for doing nothing), you shouldn't lock your doors because a thief could just come in through the windows.

In the real world, people realize an argument like yours is idiotic. You not only lock the doors, but you secure the windows. You put up motion lights to detect and deter people coming close to your house. You keep bushes (except the sparse, prickly kind) away from windows so people can't hide behind them. You get a dog. You get a security system. And if they get through all that while you're home, you have a gun.

The utterly bankrupt argument you make is tantamount to saying "eh, why bother? A fence can't stop them all!"

Now you are getting pissy huh? It might surprise you to know that I think building the fence is a good idea. What I reject is all the simple minded all we have to do is build a fence and they wont come or worse yet, all we have to do is go scoop down on all the illegals and ship them back to where they came from like it was a simple operation that anyone that watches football on a Sunday afternoon could manage so why not the President. I want solutions, not plattitudes.
