It's pretty obvious that the old adage, "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar" applies to this intelligence gathering operation.

Other approaches with prisoners are much more effective than torture. If all of the Iraq citizens that we pick up in our sweeps were fairly and humanely treated during their stay with us it would be extremely effective as public relations toward demonstrating that we are there to help them. In a controlled environment such as a detention center, intelligence agents can be mixed in with the population and quickly get much more info than by torture.

The only downside to a more humane approach is that sadistic christofascists in the Bush Administration won't have any fun.

Depends on how one defines 'torture' and how that 'torture' is used. One particular officer shot his gun toward a prisoner. The bullet lodged into the wall very close to the prisoner's head. The prisoner immediately spilled the beans about an upcoming roadside bombing. Saved lives.

I consider what this officer did to be completely appropriate. I don't see the point of stacking prisoners into naked pyramids, but I don't consider that torture.

Burning flesh with a flame thrower would be torture. Cutting off fingers one knuckle at a time would be torture. However, if the individual was a recent arrest (e.g. in the last day or two), we are quite sure the individual has some information to share, and the torture resulted in us obtaining valuable information that saves lives, I'm all for it.

Doing these kinds of things to prisoners who are unlikely to have any valuable information or to long time detainees is useless and a waste of time.

Make a Liberal happy, hug a terrorist! Afterall, if we would just REASON with them, give them lots of kisses, bake 'em a cake, smother them with hugs and ooodles of respect and a gift certificate for "whatever you want", they'd just be happier than Gump! Ah yes, that's what they want!

Oh wait, that's not what THEY said they wanted, and they have made their case ever so clear, for years and years, and years, and years.....through murder, after murder, after murder, and torture upon torture upon torture of innocent children, women and men.

"Christofascists"...that's a new term. Please define in your own words exactly what you mean by this.

Surely, you don't mean to apply it to this "wrap" artist:

I don't think it applies to these guys, either:

One thing's for sure: you aren't taken very seriesly by me or the vast majority of my good Freeper brethren.

...christofascists...

Aaaah, Christofascists. Very punny. A nice play on words, on Islamofascist. Which, by the way, is generally capitalized, as a proper noun, a courtesy you did not extend to the so-called Christofascists. Are you a Christian? Are you somehow exempt from this description? America has a large Christian population, who's included in this libelous description and who is not? Who makes that determination? You? Yet you've decided that members of the Bush administration are indeed included. Wow.

It's pretty obvious that the old adage, "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar" applies to this intelligence gathering operation.

How do the actions of your "greatest living president" and the 2004 Dem nominee in slashing the intel budgets fit into the whole intel gathering mojo?

Other approaches with prisoners are much more effective than torture.

For instance, we tried a couple of things down at Gitmo that fell well short of torture, with mixed results. First, we threatened to make the prisoners listen to MurryMom talk about politics. That didn't work because Al Qaeda guys adore her kind of politics because it makes their job so easy. So we switched tacks and brought in an imam who told them that all the virgins in paradise look like MurryMom, and that Allah also requires post-coital cuddling. They all immediately abandoned their radical version of Islam, and sang like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

The only downside to a more humane approach is that sadistic christofascists in the Bush Administration won't have any fun.

Please back up your characterization of christofascism with a fact or two.
