Ga. Woman Charged After Marrying Teen Boy
1 hour, 36 minutes ago
GAINESVILLE, Ga. - A 37-year-old woman has been charged with child molestation for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy whom she married last week.
The Gainesville Times quoted unidentified members of the boy's family as saying that Lisa Lynnette Clark is pregnant with the boy's child and that they were married Tuesday.
The boy's grandmother, Judy Hayles, said she received an official notice of the marriage because she is the boy's guardian. She had filed a complaint against Clark on Oct. 6.
Clark was arrested Wednesday and remained in custody Monday. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 30.
District Attorney Lee Darragh said Georgia law on child molestation says that a person under 16 legally cannot consent to a sexual act. Darragh would not comment further on the case.
Hayles said the relationship had been going on for nearly two years. She said her grandson and Clark's teenage son had been close friends and that the grandson spent many weekends at Clark's home.
Now Hayles said she is working to end the marriage.
Probate Court Judge Jennifer Burt said in a statement that she reviewed the marriage application and applied the appropriate provisions under state law before issuing the license. She had no additional comment.
In Georgia, a person must be 18 to marry without parental consent or 16 to marry with parental consent. Georgia law contains an exemption to the age requirements if the couple have a child or the female is pregnant.
His child support payments will end when he's 33...
There seems to be a large number of these cases as of late. What in the world is going on?

Book deal, movie rights. (What a world.)
Well she's making an honest boy out of him.
Wait till he's old enough to know he's been screwed.
YOWWWW.What a mug.
Not of this Earth.
Sorry, but the law needs to catch up to reality. This is not "child Molestation". It is statutory rape, it is illegal sex with a minor, but it is not child molestation.
If we argue that a 15 or 16 year old should be tried as an adult for murder, then we should be consistent here in regards to consensual sex with an adult.
If the boy loves her and honestly wanted to marry her, I don't see any point in prosecuting her at this point. The horse has already left the barn.
Prosecuting her now will only wreck any chance, however slim, of this boy having a good 'family' relationship with his son/daughter, and it won't do the baby any good either.
It's a strange situation but it can only get worse for this young man and his son/daughter...
"In Georgia, a person must be 18 to marry without parental consent or 16 to marry with parental consent."
Used to be 18 was the legal age in Georgia to drink and drive!
"If you are a 37 year old woman and would get pregnant to marry your 15 year old next door neighbor, you might be ..."
Same thing that has been going on for ions. We are just now starting to have each case publicized.
On this series of pit stops, is the teen father the 'lucky dog'?
Sorry, it is child molestation. For god's sake, what is up with these adults who want to bed down kids? This is totally SICK. A 37 year old marrying a 15 year old. I may barf.
Maybe she took her lead from that wonderful Mary Kay. I recently read that she knew him from the age of 7! Of course, now they are "married". Barf, barf.
Sorry, it is child molestation
---Never said it wasn't child molestation. :)
"If we argue that a 15 or 16 year old should be tried as an adult for murder, then we should be consistent here in regards to consensual sex with an adult.
"
I've never thought of it that way, but that is a good point.
Georgia redneck ping
I saw a pic of her, she was pretty good looking, the boy's life will be all downhill after this.
