I just got my first.... a SigSauer P-229, in 40 caliber. It's good for the house, but still a wee bit too big to carry, unless you have a jacket on.
I am eyeing a S&W .357 for my second.

You'll get accustomed to that fantastic SIG pistol very soon. It's not a full-sized handgun, so it can be easily concealed if desired. The good thing is that most people won't notice you're carrying a sidearm even if you taped it to your forehead. Just resist the temptation to "check" on your firearm by placing your hand on top of your concealing garment. If it's in a proper holster it won't go anywhere.
A snubnose wheelgun in .357 Magnum is a great choice because it is so versatile. Nothing is as fast as having a revolver in your hand (shoved inside a coat pocket) as you head to your car in a desolate parking lot.
