They do not need riot police. They need snipers. Jacque Chirac could restore order to France in 48 hours if he did the following things:

1. Announce that rioters, looter, arsonists will be shot.
2. At the first sign of a riot forming tell them to disperse
in two minutes.
3. If they do not disperse start shooting the rioters
starting at the back of the mob and work forward.
4. Announce that any person near a burning auto, or building
will be shot on sight.

99.9% of those that riot do not want to die. For that other 0.1% it would only be gracious to give them their wish.

I kinda like setting the TE mechanism so the MG shoots at knee level and watch the rioters get chewed up as they fall into the hail of bullets. Rat tat tat tat...

Unless you are under the impression that Napoleon is back in power you surely understand that the French will never support such actions. In fact, they are currently attacking the only man who might take effective actions against these punks.
