SACRAMENTO, Calif. The atheist who's spent years trying to ban recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools says he'll file a new lawsuit this week.
Michael Newdow says he'll ask a federal court to order removal of the national motto "In God We Trust" from U-S coins and currency. He says it violates the religious rights of atheists who belong to his "First Amendment Church of True Science."
The church's "three suggestions" are "question, be honest and do what's right." Newdow says it wouldn't be right to take up a collection when the money says "In God We Trust."
Last year, the Supreme Court dismissed Newdow's lawsuit over the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance because he doesn't have custody of his daughter, in whose name the lawsuit was filed.
Newdow has resurrected that case by filing an identical lawsuit on behalf of two families.
Did it involve a hot poker and a protology exam? :-/
Ships have always sank. Certainly that would have seemed a very great thing at the time for at least several months, but I'd still opt for tying money to a metallic standard, which tends to at least bound politicians to the ground a bit, versus the unbridled constraints of being a mere currency among many? If that's debatable let's do it.
"This bitter wacko only serves to turn people against the Left."
That is exactly what I was thinking. GMTA
Leave God in and on the money. Put Him back in the schools and on the courts too.
I got the message. I just can't find a safe harbor in this market anymore. Real estate? Greenbacks? What is real anymore?
He loves feeling hated. He feeds on hate.
The best thing Christians could do is hug and kiss him wherever they found him. It would drive him positively batty.
How did I know that it was that AH Newdow before I clicked on the thread?
Oh, btw, Michael Newdow sounds very much like Saul of Tarses, and we all know how he turned out.
Once Newdow has achieved the world he wants, and is forced to face the reality of a world where his rights come from men and not from something higher, he will learn the harsh truth that all of his money and fame mean nothing, and he will know what real oppression is.
"The assault on traditional beliefs continues."
Please. Newdow doesn't deserve any such sort of recognition. He's an assclown - a loud one - at best.
I think Mr. Newdow will also go after the U.S. Postal Service for printing religious stamps at Christmatime.
Him again!! Why can't he find a girlfriend who will give him some attention, maybe then he will fall by the wayside!
"So, how does he plan to pay his lawyer?"
No pay required, he is a lawyer and presents his own cases.
You are all focusing on the wrong debate: If you're trusting God on greenbacks printed by the government, then you're all trusting fools.
"If you're trusting God on greenbacks printed by the government, then you're all trusting fools."
Given the collapse of the dollar over the last 5 years (a collapse of over 35%), you're probably right!!
He says it violates the religious rights of atheists who belong to his "First Amendment Church of True Science."
This guy seems to not have the firmest grasp on what "atheist" means.
OK I'm in. What kind of baptism you got?
Would someone please show this a$$hole the way out of the country?
