Drudge: DRONES 'TO FLY OVER CITIES'
Drudge Report ^ | 11/13/05 | Matt Drudge

HONEYWELL is developing a micro flying spy drone -- that would be used for civilian law enforcement!

The device, a hovering robot carrying video cameras and other sensors, is being created and tested at HONEYWELL's Albuquerque, NM plant.

The first round of testing on the drone [MICRO AIR VEHICLE] has been completed, reports Bob Martin of CBS affiliate KRQE.

The battery powered craft can stay in the air for 50-60 minutes at a time, and moves around at up to 55 kilometers an hour.

The Micro Air Vehicle has flown more than 200 successful flights, including flying in a representative urban environment.

"If there is an emergency, you could provide "eyes" on whatever the emergency is, for police or Homeland Security," explains Vaughn Fulton of HONEYWELL.

In the meantime, the U.S. Army has prepared a promotional video showing the craft zooming over war-zone streets.

Drones have been given to the military to test during training exercises.

"It has the same system most fighter jets would have," explains Fulton.

The vehicle, nicknamed "Dragon Eye," will be used for reconnaissance, security and target acquisition operations in open, rolling, complex and urban terrain; it will be equipped with Global Positioning Satellite.

HONEYWELL and government officials are meeting to discuss the status of the project.

Troops in Iraq could get the craft in a year or two.

The spy drone would be deployed for domestic use shortly thereafter.

Revelation 12:7-12, "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time."

Jesus calls Satan that Old Dragon....

Now that Dragon has an eye....a form of omniscence He so craves...

People control....

electronic police hover virtually everywhere like alien mosquitoes

We already have butterfly-sized RPV's with Video.

The future, my friend, is already here.

My thoughts exactly...except they're going to eventually confiscate all of our weapons anyway. If they'd just punish (really punish) wrongdoers we wouldn't need this type of "big brother" surveillance. And, if they'd execute murderers we wouldn't have so many murders. But no, they decide to punish and monitor all of the innocent people.

What are the safeguards that these guys stay out of traffics way?

These are low level, close tactical (<300 ft AGL) UAV's. They are not theater assests.

300 feet gives them a low visual signature and they simply don't have the on board energy to practically operate any higher with current LI battery densities.

Private and commercial aviation are limited to well above that altitude over densely populated areas and municipal liability exposure dictates then won't be used in a runway departure path.

My thoughts exactly. Looking at the device, it appears a standard dove and quail load would be very effective. Don't make me drag out that Mossberg 835 with the turkey loads. It makes my shoulder hurt thinking about that.

Urban Sporting Clays?

Ummm... Couldn't a remote controlled hobby plane bring one of these things down? Sorta Kamikaze style? Unless our government declares war on us, I'd view this as a challenge to screw with the man ... :^)

Niven and Barne's had something like this in "Dream Park," IIRC. Forget what they called 'em, maybe "cop eyes?"

My view is that Revelations of St. John was not prophecy, but rather apocolyptic literature, until Constantine had it explained to him. He was a bit offended by Rome as the Whore, so they suggested that it was Prophecy, not about him, but rather someone far in the future.

Of course, if it was prophecy, then the Antichrist was Constantinius, and we are all post rapture....

Close. 'Copseyes'. An anarchist in the park figured out how to bring them all down. Like cattle and predators, once the copseyes were down, things went nutty.

Yeah, I wonder why privacy-advocating conservatives like the Bush Admin would OK such a measure?

Why do I have the feeling it would go beyond that........

If I catch that hovering over my backyard while my wife is out sunbathing it's going to get shot at.

I wonder how much of an EMP it would take to bring that little booger down?

I doubt you even need an EMP. It ought to be opossible to jam them with fairly simple equipment.

I am certain the government will make jamming illegal, but how to make one will be all over the internet.
