"The list goes on but you kids seem to be too lazy to look beyond those statements that support your position even if those statements are patently untrue. Yet you want to be taken seriously"

I'm not sure what the point of this article/editorial was - Boomers are bad or good? Maybe it was just a pure FYI article w/both pro- and con- editorializing.

Feminism (the seven founders of modern feminism are all red-diaper babies - not a boomer in the bunch)

There are seven? I never knew that. Do you know who the seven are?

Courtesy of the commie FDA regulations heaped on these companies. Let's both a) scare the bejeebers out of every1 from using a drug that made 1 person out of 1 million sick and b) make people eating meals or snacks sick while watching TV w/these disgusting revelations about vomiting cuz of the "dangerous" drug.

My dad was 17 on Pearl Harbor day. Mom was born in 1938.

Disfunctional? Not really, it is really just this brother that is disfunctional. He is the eldest, and always was a prima donna type; he though he could do no wrong and everybody owed him everything. He moved out when he went to college, even though he went to school only a few miles away, and rarely associated with the rest of us kids even when he lived at home. He spent his college years partying, but still managed to graduate with a decent degree. After 10 years of earning a decent wage at a decent job, he chucked it away saying he was tired of the rat race. Now he works in a bar part time, and ocassionally as a substitute teacher. Married a CA liberal nutcase. No kids; hates them. He speaks to our parents on the phone roughly twice a year, and goes to visit them every third year or so - his wife doesn't go at all because she hates my parents: for no rational reason I can determine. He has rejected his Christian upbringing, and is now a rabid atheist.

I last saw this brother 7 years ago at my grandfather's funeral. He flew in that morning, came to the ceremony, and left that afternoon. I haven't had any communication at all since then. My brother is a totally self-absorbed individual; no time or energy for anyone else.

It may seem to you that I hate my brother; I don't. I just don't give a single solitary shizzle about him; nor he for any of the rest of us in the family. I would consider his death to be no great loss to either society or to the family.

The vilest comment you've heard on FR??? Stick around FRiend; I'm sure you'll run across worse.

Yeah, except they want their free drugs, bigger SocSec payments, free power chairs, etc. etc.

Yup... but it is NOT entirely their fault: they grew up under a nanny-state gooberment thta promised them the moon for their vote.

Now, the bill's coming due and the bank account is WAY in the red.

I recall there being seven most influential feminists from the sixties. The names I remember are...Friedan, Chesler, millet, Dworkin, Lorde...I can't come up with the other two but I haven't thought about them at all in years.

I don't know whether Dworkin or Lorde should be counted as founders. Their work came a little later. But I would think Simone de Beauvoir for The Second Sex should be included.

Boomers Aren't Going Anywhere

I wish the liberal ones would move to Canada like they promised after the 2000 and/or the 2004 election. That would help a lot.

I agree with you. But I don't think they'll be so anti-American as half the Boomers are
