I fear Newt is too damaged politically to get elected.

Sadly known as Quayle Syndrome. Merits will never be heard over the MSM noise.

All three are Pro Abort!

Actually, no.

McCain is pro-life.

At least, he claims to be pro-life.

But there is no more reason to trust him on this issue than there is on any other.

I wonder who the 21% knuckle heads are that want McRino are. Soccer Mommies.

I think he also draws a certain amount of sympathetic vet vote. Further, Hollywood loves him so he gets extra free media points there too.

George Allen.

It will be interesting to see him go against Warner.

Notice how Rasmussen picks the three Republicans they want for the nomination. I don't know a Republican in America who would vote for McCain.

George Allen is an ex-Governor, and he has built up his national security credos in the Senate.

I'm with you....

Bush shouldn't try to play kingmaker.

We'll know if Bush is playing kingmaker if (a) Cheney reconsiders and makes a run for it in '08 or (b) Cheney retires in '07 and Condi or Rudy becomes the new Veep.

He'd get about as far as Phil Gramm did in 1996.

Newt has been definately defined by the 'Rats. They are still pissed about '94 and are taking it out on Delay and Scooter. Newt would be like waving a red flag in front of them. I don't think he has the executive experience of a Governor. Newt would make a good VP if he could be elected.

The only two id even think about is Condi or Rudy on as a vote getting Veep. I'd trust Condi to be a heartbeat away, and Rudy, well I'll trust that hell be good with the WOT, and we'll hold him accountable.

If Warner were to somehow get the nod, Allen would probably be the only GOP candidate able to carry Virginia.

I don't think Scott had any ulterior motives with his poll, he gave a list of probable candidates and respondents chose.

Its all about name recognition at this stage in the game.

They were horrified when Reagan was elected. I can't imagine the shrieks they'd make if Newt even got close to the White House.

He's still a great spokesman for conservative principles but I'm not sure he could get it through the MSM filter.

Since Bush refused to pick a VP electable after he leaves, the republicans will have to face off against a unified democrat party behind Hillary. Another stupid move by GW.

Another brain dead comment by dinok.

Cheney helped Bush win in 2000. It's not Bush's job to worry about his successor.

Doesn't matter if it's Gingrich, doesn't matter if it's McCain. All that matters is NOT letting a Clinton or Kerry into the White House.

Newt is too damaged politically

Are you kidding? True conservatives would vote for him, rabid liberals wouldn't, and everyone in between has the memory span of a gnat.

If Leno went out on the street with a photo of the VP, most people wouldn't even know who he is. You think they remember Newtie?

It matters if it's Rice. Watch for Hillary and the MSM to put in a real push for Condi...
