Have you ever seen an abortion poll that was not awash with non-voters? Is such a poll even possible?
George W Bush ran to the left as fast as he could (no Child LEFT behind). His dad did the same thing with the (ADA) and never knew what happened or what hit him when he did not get relected. The question is it to late for President (W) Bush to get back and rule from the RIGHT?
Here's a fact that was backed up by a poll that I saw once but cannot find since:
Women are more likely to oppose abortion than men are.
If abortion legality was a national referendum and women only voted, it would be a toss up.
Ironically, the nags would need men to make it affirmative nationally.

FYI: I heard Bill Whalen of the Hoover Institute say to John Batchelor on his Friday night radio show that the new mantra from the White House will be, "THE BASE, THE BASE, THE BASE." They are tired of a dishonest Democrat Party and a biased media who is carrying the Democrats lies.
I sure hope that is true!!! I think the Harriet Miers debacle in some ways had a good outcome...it showed the WH that if he abandons the base, they will not fight for him (hence the low poll numbers...I think the low polls numbers had more to do with Republicans leaving him than anything else.) With more talk like this past Friday, he'll be back.
Actually, the polling data (pathetic though it is) doesn't support your premise, i.e., that 'conservative' Republicans have become displeased with the President.
According to Pew, conservative Repubicans have remained staunchly supportive of the President (JA in high 80s); it's the liberal/moderate Republicans that have become less supportive (JA has 'slipped' to mid-70s).
NOTE: Pew contends that liberal/moderate Republicans comprise approximately 35% of the Republican base, while conservative Republicans comprise 65%.

Course..that's assuming one believes Pew. I'm not saying that liberal Republicans are not disenchanted, however, according to the mass media (ahem) conservatives have been so upset with Bush on domestic and SC nominee Harriet Miers. My guess is that with the liberal Republicans mad about Iraq and energy and the conservatives upset with domestic issues, Bush's numbers HAD to go down with Republicans, hence the larger population.
I still think that when he is out and engaged with the public, he "pulls" them back. When he is absent and appears "rudderless" he loses them...he needs to stick on the message that got him elected and keep reminding people about the facts. Counter the libs with facts!
Or any Rassmussen poll, for that matter..
