Wilkow on WABC, said the NYT on Vet's Day had Clinton saying America must be like everyone else not go alone... weaker in other words? Unbelievable.

It was this very idea which brought the rift between Blair and Clinton. When Blair came to Washington and spoke before Congress, Blair said this:

On July 17, 2003, Tony Blair made this statement:

“There is no more dangerous theory in international politics than that we need to balance the power of America with other competitive powers; different poles around which nations gather.

“Such a theory may have made sense in 19th century Europe. It was perforce the position in the Cold War.

“Today, it is an anachronism to be discarded like traditional theories of security. And it is dangerous because it is not rivalry but partnership we need; a common will and a shared purpose in the face of a common threat”.

Personally, I believe the statement by Tony was a slap in the face to Bill Clinton. Clinton's whole admin had this same opinion when they were in office. Maddie said that if everybody had the same weapons then there would be no reason for people to be shooting at each other. That was their reasoning for giving NK and China the weapons programs.
