I've never seen Blackadder, but Fawlty Towers was very, very good.

Gilligan's Island was moronic and MASH was nothing more than a venue for a lot of hollywood anti-war sentiments. Otherwise your list is fine. As to which stand the test of time? Honeymooners, seinfeld, Andy Griffith.

Kramer never works

???
Kramer was the ultimate entrepreneur. He wrote a coffee table book about.... coffee tables (the book even had fold out legs), he invented a new cologne, 'The Beach', which was so good it was stolen by Calvin Klein, and he was involved in numerous money-making ventures with Newman. Never worked? Au contrare....

Not sure if it qualifies as a sitcom series, but "Jeeves and Wooster" is another great British product. Stars Hugh Laurie(now famous from the series "House") as Bertie and Stephen Fry as Jeeves. They're both perfect in the roles.

I would have to say Seinfeld can't touch Green Acres. The sarcastic writing was ingenious.

The comedy on "SOAP" can never be matched. Outrageous situations, and cutting edge writing was its trademark along with adult themes.

I like the way you think.

If you think about it, this comedy show could not be made today. He smoked, he had guns, he spanked Opie, they went to church, they had values.

With all the things going on about The Queen of Britain, and Howard Dean, John Edwards, Iraq and so on, one does have to wonder why TV shows is being posted under news to divert attention.

There are too many brainless idiots posting on FR these days to even wonder about that.

Fact is TV earned the name "boob tube" decades ago and for a good reason.

You add the failed education system with the boob tube and you have exactly what is most seriously wrong with America.

Oh but don't you dare shine a critical light on the beloved Lucy show or there is something wrong with you the messenger.

Makes you wonder if the Lucy show was just so highly enriching how did they end in such a bitter divorce...?

And MASH was another idiot show. How can it run for so long and never once mention what the stakes were in keeping the people of the south free from communism? Because the Libtard Left don't ever want to display US Military might as any thing other than destructive.

But you people keep watching the boob tube, and have your kids raised on it. Couple that with the failed education system and you fools WILL get what you deserve (unwanted pregnancies, kids that are unemployable when they grow up, etc).

You know one of my coworkers here in Berlin is an absolute Lefty and he doesn't allow his children to watch TV. That should really tell you something. Wake up people, you have been warned and the warning signs are all around you.

I will leave this useless thread with just one more quick example for any of you doubters out there, look this up and see if I am not wrong...

My wife bought the first episode of "King of Queens" on ebay because I am originally from Queens so she thought I would like it. I figured OK lets see what this is about...

The first FIVE episodes make joke and reference to incest. I am not BSing. Look into it. How can it be that the first FIVE episode contain such thinly veiled filth as comedy? Coincidence? Yea I am sure coincidence in the small minds of some of you boobs but considering all the jokes and situations under the sun that can be presented in a TV as comedy, to repeatedly refer to incest in a joking manner displays an agenda. Only sad thing is some of you boobs with your childhood cherished memories and too much in denial to see it.

I stopped watching the show after 5 episode and chucked it into the trash. My conscience would not even allow me to resell it on ebay. Some of you boob need to grow up and wake up to the game that is being played on you because it is not pretty.

"Kramer was the ultimate entrepreneur."

There is a difference between an entreprenuer and a person who pursues get-rich-quick schemes to escape work.

I've only seen the first four seasons, but I do remember that he didn't invent the cologne, he just had the idea--then failed to follow up.

I don't know what he did with Neuman in subsequent seasons, but in the first four there was no money-making going on.

Talking to yourself now? We get it - you're better and smarter than all of us combined, and quite full of yourself too. We're all impressed. Now, go newsgather or something.

Seinfeld has to be # 1.

Jackie Gleason's Ralph -- the greatest character (Art Carney's Norton -- second greatest) in The Honeymooners.

That's all I have to say.

;-)
