Keep in mind that if you adjust for likely voters, then today's number is around 49%.
When polling "all adults" the number is always lower for the Republican.
Something's weird here. To go from 38% approval to 46% approval overnite? Makes one wonder about polls.
Either the President's poll ratings are so low they are awful yada, yada, yada.
Then the bump up to 46% BUT they are not sure if this is statistcal noise or what?
That my friends is why the Prez pays not attention to the polls. Plain and simple. As that famous General in NO said: They are stuck on Stupid. Well, I think the poll people (and I don't care who they are) are stuck on gloom and doom.
I doubt this has had a chance to impact polls yet, but I was glad to see Bush start swinging back at the anti-war, history revisionists.
We all know he can't run for another term, so why not go out swinging???
He made some great statements yesterday at the memorial. Good for him! He's turned the other cheek far too long, and the Dems like the Muslims see this as weakness not strength or quality of the man. Take the gloves off George!
Maybe some of the base is encourgaged that he actually seems to be defending himself.
Appears that a chunk of Bush's drop in the polls can be attributed to the Miers nomination.
Some of the negative approvals are coming from Conservatives. The Libs should take no comfort in this. While some Conservatives are unhappy, they will never vote for Dems. They will be voting Republican next year.
Actually Rasmussen has never had him below 43%. It is AP that had (and probably still does) Bush at 38%. Remember that Ras was right on the mark in the 2004 elections.
Rasmussen has had Bush at 40% among 'National Adults' in October 2005. (43% among 'Likely voters')
Rasmussen also had Bush at 40% among 'Likely voters' in August or September 2004. (37% amng 'National Adults')
Did you mean to say 2005? I find it hard to believe Bush was that low in Ras so close to the election. Do you have a link?
Apparently he has been lower than 43% this year, but the point is that it is other polls that have always had him lower.
No link,
Only memory.
I think with Katrina, Plamegate (ugh!) and the Meir's nomination fading into the background, along with Bush finally defended himself against the nimrods...we can expect to see his numbers go up.
The price of gasoline is dropping too. It's only $2.11 where I live. High gasoline prices make people angry and they take it out on the most visible politician in the room.
Good point and definitely a contributing factor in his sinking poll numbers. I'm really hoping that things turn around. It's just crazy that the Republicans are in power, yet the DIMS act like they own the joint, lo.
Strongly Approve 23%
Somewhat Approve 23%
Somewhat Disapprove 15%
Strongly Disapprove 39%
You mistake is comparing apples to organges. 38% is what you get in a News media poll. Rassmussen is a professional poll. Rass does the same poll the same way every day. Bush's approval rating has hovered between 42-46% steady for a months. The flaw here is the "Somewhats" basically the same question. It probably represents more a 46% favorable, 39% unfavorable, 15% "don't really know or care" since "somewhat unfavorable" is going to be pretty much the standard response from people who don't really care about politics.
