Listen to Rush conduct broadcast excellence
RUSH: A lot of you people have been demanding the president come out and defend himself and respond to some of this and, by the way, I think -- this is my own view here -- but I think the president deserves our total support now and needs it. I know that some of you think leadership has been lacking and there hasn't been a lot, but sometimes you don't wait for leaders. Sometimes you become one. The president came out today. He offered people what they wanted to hear him say. It's time now to support him on this, but I just want to warn you. I have been monitoring the big media, this as in big oil. I've been monitoring the big media. By the way, I wonder what their profits are, as opposed to big oil. But anyway, I've been monitoring the big media, and, of course, the big media is taking the three paragraphs from this speech to point out the president's weakness. I've been through this, throughout my career, not to equate myself with the situation. This is a life lesson. I've been through this and I've had scurrilous things said about me in public, and people say (doing impression) "Rush Limbaugh, I know you're not going to sit there and tolerate that, you've got to fight back!" And every time I've fought back, the critics, "A-ha, we must be on to something, you're on defense, you have to defend yourself. If it was no big deal, you'd just ignore it."
The press is saying exactly that about Bush's three paragraphs where he points out that his critics are full of it and that they're hypocrites and that they're lying, because they saw this intelligence, and they said the same things he said. The press: "He's become derailed, he's now given to responding to his critics. The real purpose of this speech was to respond to his critics. He continues to stay on defense." I just want to warn you that's what you're going to hear as you keep the big media on, and it's going to frustrate you because you think -- and normal logic would say that somebody responding would force the critics or the people that sat around watching this to examine, "Okay, the president fought back, he responded, called these people a bunch of liars essentially and said that they're rewriting history." And of course the people that are doing the rewriting of history are going to try to spin this, "See, see, we're getting to him, we're taking him off track, we're distracting him, he's responding to us." You're not going to hear the press say, "The president vigorously fought back today and told the truth about his--" You're not going to hear that at all. So don't look for support, don't look for any kind of validation on this from the big media. All right, Patrick in Nashville. You're next, welcome to the program, sir, on Open Line Friday.

CALLER: You have to forgive me if I'm a little nervous. I've been trying forever to get through and it's an absolute pleasure to talk with you, especially today on Veterans Day.
RUSH: Thank you, sir.
CALLER: I just wanted to make some comments about Bush's speech.
RUSH: That's why we took your call.
CALLER: Great. This, to me, is one of the most amazing speeches I think he has given since 9/11.
RUSH: What was your favorite part of it? What was your favorite part of the speech?
CALLER: Well, finally he is defending himself, defending the decisions that he has made, and rightfully so. He's been getting a lot of flak for things that have been going on, and it's about time that he finally stood up and responded to the liberals in this country and to his critics. I think it was way overdue.
RUSH: Okay. Now, granted, I agree, and there are going to be a lot of people who have that view but I'm warning you again here, Patrick, you turn on your media this afternoon and tonight, read the newspaper, watch television, you're not going to hear that view at all. You're going to hear the president portrayed as even weaker than before he made the speech, because he was reduced to reacting to his critics. I just heard it said on CNN by one of their reporters. You know this is how this is going to happen. Be strong yourselves and don't let these people talk you out of knowing what you know, that the right thing happened today, and it's about time that return fire occurred. CALLER: Hi, how you doing, Rush?BREAK TRANSCRIPTRUSH: Good, thank you.
CALLER: I just want to say I'm a 23-year-old Iraq war vet, just got out of the Army, and I just want to say, "Wow, what a great speech." I'm so proud and glad I was able to hear it. I've been waiting for the president to defend himself against all these ridiculous claims about the war, and I really, really loved the part where he came in to defend the reasons for going to war, and he is absolutely correct about the Democratic Party trying to rewrite history. That's exactly correct.
RUSH: Do you think he was forceful enough?
CALLER: I thought it was great, Rush. That's my opinion. I just thought it was great because, you know, they've been making all these ridiculous claims that somehow the president told them that there were weapons that, they only went because of that, when in fact -- and I'm so glad he brought it up -- they were all given the same intelligence, and they all made a decision based on the intelligence that they had.
RUSH: Yeah, but do you think he said it forcefully enough?
CALLER: I thought it was appropriate, did you not?
RUSH: No, I'm just asking. I'm not going to weigh in on this yet. You know, when I say something there's nothing left to be said about it, and that cuts off all opinions from others, because it renders them obsolete. So I'm just asking other people their thoughts here before, you know, I presume to render them pointless. I'm glad you called.
I see that military recruitment is up in the month of October. How can this be? How can this be? The Katrina media has been out there telling us that the military is really savaged. You know, I think we're just going to have to listen here to everything the media says and assume the opposite. The Katrina Mary Mapes media. Let's see, what else do we have. Oh. How about these protests in Jordan? What are you laughing at, Mr. Snerdley? The Katrina media? Homeless join the services, whatever. Nevertheless, my friends, people protesting in Jordan here. They're protesting Zarqawi. Now, Jordanians protesting Zarqawi, they're shouting things like, "Burn in hell, Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi!" How do the Jordanians differ from the American left? The American left essentially says burn in hell George W. Bush. The American anti-war extremists basically say burn in hell George W. Bush. The Jordanians are saying, burn in hell, Zarqawi. It's just refreshing to see people who get it. Here their country has just been bombed and they're mad at the guys who did it. They're not mad at the king, they're not mad at anybody else, they're mad at the people who did it. But the American left in this country cannot get mad at the perps, at the terrorists, at the people who commit these crimes against us.
It's just amazing. The press is still going nuts over the president's speech today in Pennsylvania. I checked it out here in the top of the hour. Some of the Katrina media -- by Katrina media, meaning they've gotten nothing right. Remember the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina? Where are the 10,000 bodies? I want to see the 10,000 bodies. 'Til I see 10,000 bodies I'm not going to believe a damn thing that these people say anymore. I want to see the 10,000 bodies. I want to see the toxic soup water. I want to see the city shut down for six months. I want to see all this. I want to see the evidence that Bush steered the hurricane in there. I want to see the evidence that he blew up the levees to wipe out the ninth ward and to scatter a bunch of black Democrats all around the country thereby watering down their voting power in Louisiana. I want to see all these things before I believe anything they say. Some in the media out there are saying that Bush defending himself today is proof that he lied. Now he has to do this. They're out there telling lies about him. Unrelenting propaganda has its impact. No debate about that. And that's all the Democrats have been. That's what the liberal effort has been from day one, unrelenting propaganda. And what's been unacceptable and disappointing up to this point is the refusal, the unwillingness of the White House to fight back, and the unwillingness of congressional Republicans to fight back.

I am so glad he is taking off the gloves..Time to tell it like it is and pound home why Iraq is so important..We must win this...we must stick with it..we must support this mission.

There were more than sufficient WMDs, WMD technology, WMD precursors, WMD recipes, and WMD terrorist delivery systems to make the case for attacking Iraq.
President Bush needed to say that.
It's all true, and I'm tired of the "there were no WMDs" lines coming out the mouths of media & political liberals and conservatives.
When we need guidance we can always consult French history to determine what would be the wrong move. For example - The French Colonial State of Algeria started a war against France to win their Independence. Granted they were Muslim, but who would support French Colonialism (really Imperialism). So the French responded with a bloody war. The right move in that situation would have been to grant Algeria its independence and welcome it into the 20th century as a sovereign state. After years of bloody war the French decided to just surrender. They walked away. Now the French find themselves with millions of immigrants from their neighbor Algeria living within France. They have never been welcomed into France by the French (who is ?). They are now rioting daily and have started an insurrection. The shoe is now on the other foot. France is fighting for its independence. The Algerian and other North African immigrants will treat France just like France treated Algeria during their war for Independence. In the French case two wrongs did not make a right. In fact 2 wrongs will lead to either the death of France or a new European African war.
The US had made the right moves to get where we were just prior to the Iraq war. We had removed Saddam from Kuwait, a Muslim country he had invaded. We unfortunately listened to the French and their allies within the coalition and decided to leave Saddam in power. This lead to the US having to establish 'no fly' zones while Saddam was free to carry out terror on the ground. The 911 attack gave the President the backing to finally right the French inspired wrong in Iraq. We completely removed Saddam and his henchman. So when we need to make an important foreign policy decision, we should always ask, how did the French screw this one up ? Unfortunately, we could have used such advice just before we got involved in Vietnam, another French mistake.
We are trying to teach the Iraqis to defend themselves..Iraq is not a colony, we are not the French...and I hope to God we do not have the same type people in the Congress and the Senate who pulled the rug out in Vietnam...John Kerry was a star liar then ...

Kerry Chides Bush For 'Fear And Smear' On Veterans Day
The current situation within Iraq is not a war. Iraq has an internal policing security problem. Look at how even Saddam's lawyer are being killed. Then of course every Islamic extremist who has been brainwashed by the 'hate America' crowd has been making a pilgrimage to Iraq to fight the 'Great Satan'. This has given the US the ability to kill off these hate America extremists before they have the chance to infiltrate the US homeland.
The absolute worse thing for America to do would be to leave Iraq before it solves its internal security problem. No surprise that the French aligned politicians are suggesting that we leave Iraq right now.
I thought you might have been suggesting that we must leave before that internal security problem is greatly improved..
So am I, but I think he now needs to put on the brass knuckles. Of course, he may very well do that.
