WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A mother injected her three young sons with her own infected blood so she could get more attention from hospital staff, authorities said.
Debra Diaz, 25, of West Palm Beach, was charged Thursday with aggravated child abuse and neglect of a child causing great bodily harm, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
The three boys - ages 4, 2 and 1 - were each hospitalized last month with infections allegedly caused by insect bites. They each underwent surgery, and two of the children were admitted to intensive care and remained hospitalized Thursday, the sheriff's office said.
Hospital staff alerted investigators about the children's infections and said they were worried the boys were being neglected at home, according the affidavit.
Investigators said the children may have been victims of 'Munchausen' syndrome by proxy, a rare form of child abuse in which parents make a child ill to gain attention and sympathy for themselves.

This monster should permanently lose custody & visitation rights to these children.
These crazy women have a web site where they defend themselves.

Hey, parents "rights" always matter more than the welfare of the children... and we wouldn't want the "state" to interfere, right?
Sarcasm alert for the lackwits who are sure to agree.
Amen to that.
AIDs is the only legally protected "infection" of which I'm aware. A rather strange omission.
She'll get plenty of "attention" from her cell mates in prison.
We all know what it is. Only "homophobes" say AIDS.
That only happens to men. Women get psychological counseling and support. Because they are not men, they cannot be evil!/extreme sarcasm off
Munchausen by proxy, is more prevelant than some people know.
I don't know what she has, but I sure hope her babies are okay...
Feces and urine was found in some of the wounds, Miller said.
Miller said Diaz said she injected the children with her own blood, which is infected and deliberately caused them bodily harm.
"She did this because she was angry with her husband, who was drinking," Miller said. "And she said she liked the type of attention she was getting from hospital personnel."
A patient with Munchhausen syndrome repeatedly fabricates physical illness - usually acute, dramatic and convincing - by a person who wanders from hospital to hospital to hospital and doctor to doctor for treatment. Patient actually may ingest or inject substances (poison) so they can seek medical attention.
Oh my God!
