Islamist lawyer: Ireland could be targeted

An Islamic fundamentalist lawyer has said Ireland is a "legitimate" target for a terrorist attack.

Anjem Choudary, speaking at a debate Thursday at Dublin's Trinity College, claimed Ireland was open to attack because of the government's decision to allow U.S. troops to refuel at Shannon Airport, the Irish Independent reported Friday.

"If you are going to allow your country to be used to refuel a U.S. plane which is going on a bombing raid, what do you expect our reaction to be? This is not neutrality," he said.

"A U.S. pilot is no different from the Irish person who allows the plane to land. They are collaborators," said Choudary, who is under police surveillance in Britain.

Another Muslim extremist, Umran Javed, told the debate that although he did not see an attack on Ireland as likely, retaliation would come "swiftly" if Ireland increased its support for the United States.

The comments came only hours after the head of Scotland Yard, Sir Ian Blair, warned that Dublin is as much at risk of a major terrorist attack as other large cities. Senior Irish police are studying Choudary's remarks to determine if they represent an incitement to hatred.

Ireland should keep Mr Anjem Choudary as an involuntary resident (in handcuffs) just in case Ireland is attacked.

I'm beginning to think that any non-Islamic country is a "legitimate" target for terrorist attack...

You might want to add Islamic countries to the "legitimate" target list...see Jordan.

Demands from mass murderers are particularly disgusting.

"A U.S. pilot is no different from the Irish person who allows the plane to land. They are collaborators,"

A muslim family cheering in the street is no different than a suicide bomber. They are collaborators.

Ok, Mr laywer boy, now that we are working on the same level. Are you sure you want to go there? Every muslim mosque, parade and gathering suddenly becomes a legitimate military target.

I was thinking the same thing.

But on the same note, who is this guy anyway?? I've never heard of him. What kind of authority does he have (if any)?

The Islamics don't have to lecture the Irish on assymetrical warfare. The Irish invented it.

Has Mr. Choudary ever heard of the "Peep-o-Day" boys?

Ireland let in a lot of Muslim immigrants, so the fifth column is already in place.

You cannot conquer Ireland. You cannot extinguish the Irish passion for freedom. If our deed has not been sufficient to win freedom, then our children will win it by a better deed.
Padraig Pearse - a leader of the 1916 Rebellion.

I want peace and quiet. I want it so much I'd die for it.
Michael Collins

Early American folk history records that the only thing that Irishmen liked to do more than fight was drink. And the only reason the Irish like to fight among themselves is that they have yet to find a worthy opponent.

Bring it on!!!

As an Irish woman myself, I am particularly disgusted with my old Alma Mater Trinity College for letting scum air their depraved views there. This is exactly the sort of politically correct nonsense that Trinity College - the best college in Ireland - has unfortunately fallen prey to over the past couple of years.

There has always been a degree of collusion between Palestinian and Irish terrorists. Hopefully we have seen the last of this with the recent peace process. I abhor racism of any sort but I can tell you, Ireland will not stand for this politically correct appeasement of muslims. We are by nature, a very insular lot and there will be a huge backlash to Islamic Extremist shenanigans of any kind. The public is already highly critical of the amount of immigrants that have entered Ireland in the past decade or so. We have traditionally been a source of out-migration and people here are not happy at the preferential treatment being meted out to scum like Choudury. There is no way they would let Irish terrorists get up and spread their vile propaganda at Trinity so I find it especially disgusting that they let Choudury do so. Hopefully the public will protest at large sooner or later
