It has been a number of years since this thread was started a friend brought to my attention that at some point during those years the anti-christian text I had the main issue with has been completely done away with.
Namely you won't find this text in the game:
“With the might of Rome behind it, Christianity spread rapidly thoughout the known world.”
Nor will you find this text:
“When the Roman Empire fell, Christianity broke into two branches. Since then it has continued to fragment, with a number of branches quite hostile to others.”
In its place you will find a completely respectful text, which I do not recall exactly what it says, but is definitely acceptable and comparable to the other religions in the *GAME*.
So the ultimate conclusion of this thread must be that I was completely correct in my original stance.
I guess that fact will bother some of you but I do hope those can cope.
Thank you, goodbye, good gaming!
I purchased Civ4--The Complete Edition and find nothing objectionable in it. Though I do try to make Christianity my religion and spread it as far as possible in every game I play, while trying like the dickens to restrict Islam.
It seems I have inadvertently resurrected this thread, so I might as well stick with it.
“So the ultimate conclusion of this thread must be that I was completely correct in my original stance.”
Sorry, the fact that they have ‘fixed’ the game doesn’t make you any less wrong. Everything I posted (mistakenly directed at Reader_David) still applies. My point wasn’t that you were wrong about the game contents (except the scientific method thing, which never changed), it was that your arguments were bad.
