AS THE POPULARITY of the war in Iraq shrinks like a withering flower, and a slim majority of Americans believes the Democratic Partys talking points claiming that President Bush lied about Saddam Hussein having weapons of mass destruction, it is important that America not confuse the administration with the brave citizens who execute its policies.
The Bush lied chorus is, of course, lying. Everyone from Bill Clinton to Jacques Chirac believed Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction. But the Democrats including many who voted for the war have succeeded in pinning worldwide intelligence failures on Bush alone. And now most Americans say they believe the President lied to draw America into war.
Fortunately, the drop in support for the war has not translated into a drop in support for the men and women prosecuting that war, as happened a generation ago. We must ensure this never happens.
No matter what one believes about the administration, the service personnel carrying out its orders deserve everyones respect and admiration. These men and women are risking their lives to fight Americas enemies. Many of them believe so firmly in the mission that they have signed up multiple times, at great personal danger, rather than leave the job of securing Iraq and Afghanistan to others.
On Veterans Day it is customary to honor the deserving heroes of past wars. While we do that let us also not forget the many heroes of todays War on Terror. We believe this war is a just one, as do most of the men and women fighting it. Whether you think it just or unjust, dont forget that those conducting it do so because they believe they are keeping you safe. For that, they deserve your thanks.

You may have been a pilot, or you may have been an infantyman, or you may have been a sailor, or you may have driven a supply truck. The job you did, or are doing now does not matter. What matters is that you did your duty for your country, and your fellow americans. This simple fact instills a great deal of pride in every veteran of the armed forces. For those who have chosen not to serve, please keep one thing in mind. Our veterans have given to this great country one thing they can never get back. They gave their time, and a piece of their life.
To all my fellow veterans, Thank You!!!!!!
